You have heard of the stories that begin with, "When i was a kid....", well i grew up in Boystown, Nebraska. An average winter was zero or below, snow up to the second story window, and no way out of the building unleses you went out the second story window....with a snow shovel so that you could shovel the walkway to the front door. Then we would have to wait for the snow blower to clear the middle of the street. Walking a mile or 2 to school was a normal thing there, snow, rain or shine. Not much has changed in that part of this country. They still get blizzards there, and snow is expected in the winter. When i left there i went South and haven't been back.
