I switched to Lucas full synthetic HP MB (with Moly) 10W-40 motorcycle oil but only after it had a few thousand miles on it.

I already posted a while back Honda documentation that says 10W-30 or 40 for the PCX. It does not have to be 10W-30.

The manual for the 2015 PCX 150 does say to use "motorcycle" oil. The only motorcycle oil I saw at Walmart was mostly 15w50 or thicker oils, and MA jaso rated. It is my feeling that FUll synthetic 10w30 would be better that motorcycle oils which are usually blended for air cooled wet clutch engines. As I stated elsewhere "Bob the oil guy" on the internet performed wear tests on many oils, including racing oils that are not street legal, and Pennzoil full synthetic 5w30 was by far the most wear resistant 115,000 pounds pressure before it gave up. Mobile-One was good to about 105,000. He did not test Pro Honda oils, but did about 70 different oils, Amisol (name?) etc.. The surprising thing to me was the thicker oils did not beat the 30w and even some lower 0w20s in wear protection. I paid almost $10 for Penzoil 10-30 at PepBoys, the 5-30 was about the same price. My PCX currently has about 1740 miles on it., I plan to change my own oil at 25k, unless it looks dirty before that.

Honda hasn't given recommendations, but the chart makes it look like you should run 10w30 if your climate is colder, 10w40 if it's warmer. I'd not run 10w40 if it's near freezing, but would prefer 10w40 in the summer.

Honda 's recommendation also advises the use of MB ( Moly ) for the engine and final drive lube . Could use another brand.....with Moly . The engineers didn't put Moly in the recommendation just for kicks.....so to speak . Run any spec oil you want , your bike , your call , but unless your also a chemical engineer , I'd stick to Honda's recommendation.

To member 675, Welcome aboard! Hey! I'm not familiar with that brand of oil. Where abouts do you live? That would help us all figure things out while we chat from around the globe. Please enter your location in your profile. I have directions to do so right below. It's easy peazy :P

I just did an oil change last week. Used
Pro Honda HP4M (high performance 4 stroke motorcycle oil)
Synthetic/Petroleum Blend WITH Moly
SAE 10W-30 SJ
MB Jaso T903
