Have won a few bob on the Grand National ( thats a horse race in the UK) and also the British Golf Open over the years...and i am not a gambler...only bet on the National and the Open...won a set of golf clubs in a lucky draw a few years ago....very welcome.

Youyou...why dont you start a English National Party and go for Independence from us? The way we have been monkeying around recently I am surprised you haven't...wouldn't blame you.
Now that's as far as I am going as I got into trouble before dabbling in politics on this Forum and no wish to upset Gn...all meant in humour ( notice the correct spelling!)...

Years ago (1993), I entered a contest at a local body shop while getting my 1990 Ford pickup repaired. 2nd prize was a set of new tires which I needed.

Got a call a month later that I won the grand prize, a fishing trip . I had to get them to repeat the value when they I though they said it was worth $1800. I thought that was a lot.

Then they told me the trip was worth 18,000.

duane1 that's a Win-Win! Terrific! Did you fish? What did you catch? I love fishing and haven't done much in years. Very sad. It's so peaceful out on the water and you never know what lies beneath you. Or what will take yer bait! I pulled up a stingray once. OMGadosh! Deadweight monster. Beware of stinger!

Caught some 28 lb salmon but not the tyee (over 50 lbs) I was trying for.

Caught a bunch of halibut which became great fish n chips when I got home.

My dad managed to talk the guys who work the docks into giving us about 20 lbs of King crab each . They caught them near the lodge to use as afternoon meal appetizers.

It was all delicious.
