I guess they dont have the idle stop activation light on the USA PCX's as they dont include the idle stop system. Is that still correct for the 150 in the US?

Because of ignorance on the part of the US legislature and/or Honda's inability/unwillingness to set them straight on the facts of how the PCX idle stop system works.

For those of us in the USA that don't get idle stop, you can still kill the engine and restart manually every stop. The PCX's stator both starts and charges the bike, so no extra wear will come by starting and stopping it regularly.

That's what I have been doing regularly to save fuel and balance out the fact I ride almost full throttle with all the traveling I do. The bike starts instantly w/o problems.

You won't save much (any?) fuel with idle stop on a PCX unless you only ride in congested city centre traffic.
But if you do then you might save a litre per thousand kilometers.

I do agree though, idle stop is only useful in stop-and-go city traffic with lots of red lights. It wouldn't affect my commute at all, since I have very few stops per mile.

Good link, I like real-world studies. They concluded 2.79 l/100 km with idle-stop and 2.90 l/100 km without idle stop. In US figures, that's 84.3 mpg with idle stop, and 81.1 mpg without idle stop.

So in real-world, you'll gain 3mpg with idle stop.

I'd like to note that their mpg figures are horribly low. 81mpg is simply awful, I've never had a tank that low, even running for a whole tank at 55mph...

These are French journalists riding in Paris, you would have to try really hard to match their fuel figures.

So many car drivers in the USA would RAGE if I weaved in like that. Even though the weaving does not in any way impede their driving, people in the USA are still offended if you pass them because for some reason they consider driving a race.

The moment around 3:00 where he almost got bus'd made me cringe. What a great rider though, he moved amazingly through traffic. I wish it were legal to filter like that in the USA. It looks fun (albeit dangerous).

Hah, just finished watching that. What happened at the end, did he hit a pylon? I should take back my comment about him riding well.

Filtering is what scooters are for.
Cars exist purely as something to overtake.
With my hi-vis jacket and white helmet on while riding my white PCX any queueing traffic I encounter usually pulls over to create space for me.

i agree to a certain extent but that bloke is crazy, like most french drivers/riders.

I thought I used to ride like crazy when living in London, until I went pillion on a despatch riders CX 500 bike there whilst he did a couple of deliveries. That was insane! On the video did he just tape the camera inside of his visor? And it seems his right indicator was left on if that was the flashing light on his dash? And yes, he hits a post at the end!

That's what I was thinking. That and, if I was driving in the kind of stop-and-go traffic where idle stop would save me gas, I probably wouldn't be driving a scooter in it on a regular basis anyway.

And wow that video is crazy! You ride like that in the US, and you're going home with a stack full of traffic tickets!
