If the dealer is any good he should let you take the bike on a variety of different roads-get it onto the roads you're mostly going to be riding on. No point in pootling around town.

£600 more than the pcx seems good value with all the features - just lacking ABS.

PCX also lacks ABS.
But an ABS equipped mint condition used Honda SH300i, Forza 300, Kwak J300 or Sym Joymax 300 could be had for the same money as a new PCX.

My American PCX 150 tops out at 67 mph, (GPS), so if someone over there can get 66 mph off of a 125, there is either something wrong with mine or theirs has been modified. If you are looking for something that does well at 60 mph the 150 can do it, but it won't have a lot left. I don't believe that Honda has anything between the 150 and the Forza 300 in the way of scooters, so moving up beyond the 150 would require that you move to a different manufacturer. Do you have a second manufacturer that you trust as much as Honda? If the 150 would do for you, check the regulations for its use in England. Then buy it and put an NCY variator and drive face on it. You will squeeze a little more top end out of it with those.

Maxi scooters consume to much fuel for me. The main reason for me needing scooter is to money I need 100+mpg. Thanks For The input though

Actually Homie is a nice guy. He most likely was just trying to be funny. But since he is from the Chicago area he probably did not realize how offensive the British slang word "Wanker" is.

I commute 60m daily including 20m on m62 and have no probs. Mpg has been steadily climbing since I got it new in march. Currently giving 120.9. 125 model. Saving me a lot of cash in fuel. What's not to like?

That sounds positive. Looks like 125 might be sufficient for me then. The 150 model would cost £31 extra in road tax per year too in the UK. Test ride next week hopefully. Now just to pick a colour! Using a scooter will save me over £600 a year. Plus it'll cut 20+ minutes off my commute every day. Thanks

Awesome! You've obviously thought it through better than I did. On average, I only ride mine about once a week or less to work so I only save $3.50 in gas each month but it costs me $20 a month just to insure it. The commute is so short and has little traffic so going by scooter takes more time (same driving time plus more time to put on/take off riding gear and bike cover). It is more fun, though!

Increased fuel consumption is unavoidable if you want increased performance, but it might not cost as much as you think.
MPG numbers alone don't tell the whole story..
Assuming 10,000 miles annual use the difference between a 125 at 100mpg and a 300 at 80mpg at today's UK pump prices is just £2.50 a week.
Do 5000 miles a year and the difference drops to £1.25 a week.
If you only do 3000 miles a year the difference is 75p a week.

It looks like the ideal bike for me.

Would make sure you stay ahead of the relentless 56mph trucks on the local bypass, the main bugbear of a 125 I find.

It's lovely to have this balanced discussion but, as usual, if the guy wanted to buy the bike he would have. And he'd be riding it right now rather than riding the qwertyuiop
