Thanks so much for the offer, but the damage done to my bike was a cracked side panel--in fact the panel broken is the largest one on the machine. It runs completely around the whole scooter and includes the tail light assembly as well, as I recall.

My right front panel was scraped on its leading edge; but that is a cosmetic problem that can be disguised, if not erased, with some red paint.

So, is the one you are talking about known as the Body Cover in the body panels diagram? They would be in the rear, on the side, and they attach to the tail light assembly. No panel goes all the way around the bike, though the dis-assembly diagram may show that you take the whole assembly off of the bike together. Once it is off of the bike you will note that it has screws that hold each side to the tail light assembly itself. I believe that panel also has the 'PCX' decal on it.

Yes, the body cover. Yes, I have taken that cover off before. It is not indissolubly mated to the tail light, as you point out.
