When we had our scooter accident...both bikes at the same time...we had not expected to have an accident. When you have an accident, you usually do not expect to have it. Dress as though you expect an accident because when it happens you will feel it if you are not dressed appropriately. I was in my full gear. My wife was not. One shoulder surgery and multiple Physical Therapy sessions later, she still is not back to what she was before the accident....and $70,000 in debt because the insurance did not cover as much of it as we had hoped.
You may get by on flip flops and tee shirt for quite a while, but it only takes one accident to ruin your day, and life.
