You meant you don't get why you would hard wire it for the PCX, you do however get why we like them. With the BT we need not remove our batteries and bring them in the house during winter. Nothing wrong with the charging systems except you shouldn't be starting up your bikes for short periods of time to charge the battery during winter as that just adds to condensation and fouled oil. As for hard wiring the leed to a PCX, that's questionable with such easy access to the terminals the clips are fine. But with large bikes the battery access can take some wrenching so yes I wire that leed and dangle it on the Buell for quick hook up. Battery tenders are here to stay, maintaining a maximum charge during storage periods especially on battery eaters like expensive cold cranking amp (CCA) Harley twin engines is advised.

I get why you'd want easy access. And I realize why a tender would be useful for long periods of not being used.
Being new to my PCX (bought in late fall and immediately put into storage) I just wanted to know if there was some electrical issue I wasn't aware of.

Oh oh oh...ohkay. Understood. No issues hmm...unless you bought the fruity "lemon" variety. JOKING!! You might get yourself a tender just to have it available. Not expensive and they go on sale every now n then. Up to yerself

I have one attached to the PCX's battery sitting in my basement (not on the concrete floor).

The Deltran Battery Tender Jr. ($25.00 @ Amazon) is the best investment you can make. I live in Massachusetts & it goes thru a long nap in the Winter. Even if I lived in a warmer climate, I would own one. Installing the leads to a breeze (takes minutes to do)
I have 7+ year old Tender Jr. that's outside & it's still going strong. Also....I own a Deltran double-bank tender for our boat. It will extend the life of your batteries without question. It's so much better then pulling your battery out for the Winter months.
