This is a fair point, I didn't realise they were so cost effective. First time my battery went I had it replaced under warranty. The second time the dealer fleeced me of £50 for the pleasure. Just saw a Lucas uprated battery for £26 on eBay and OEM battery for £20. Not a bad idea at all. However the car battery is a different matter... time will tell, I arrive home on Monday and will check on both vehicles the following day.

I've been looking into using a Lithium battery for the fast charge-ability and reduced weight. How's it working out for you?

Well, either Honda got the design wrong or yours is faulty in some way as the new '15 bikes are supposed to automatically disable idle-stop if it detects the battery is getting to low to support idle-stop. The service manual includes a graph showing approximately how the circuitry (ECU) decides to allow or disable the idle stop. Strange your battery was flattened.

My personal experience with start stop is that it hasn't hurt my battery. I ride into central London every day to and from work. 16 plate owned from new. One thing to keep in mind, if you have alarm and tracker on your pcx and you don't use it often your battery will go flat.

I keep mine connected to an Optimate charger / conditioner now that the bad weather has arrived in the UK.and I'm not riding my bikes ...It has alarm / tracker and no doubt drains the battery so the optimate keeps it topped up.

My bike is over six years old, out in the front yard all weathers, and sometimes does not get used in 2-3 weeks.
Still on the original battery and spark plug and bike starts 1st time every time and still giving 120-130mpg in this cold weather.
Looks like I had a good battery, but getting a bit concerned now due to it's age.

GN - what battery is good for the PCX and costs around £20 (before the usual looking around and reading loads of reviews)?

If you have a car or a Motorcycle/scooter, you should always have a Battery tender handy. Its always good to have in these situations. Leave it plugged in overnight and should be ready to go.

I've the cheap £20+ ones in both of mine. Haven't noticed any change from OEM in either.

I wouldn’t use a charger over 1 amp on a M/C battery, A car battery can use a lot more, but I still keep it low - around 6 amp or so. From what I understand, the faster the barge (more amps) the more stress on a battery.
