Hey Ish, do us a favor...can ya post a pic or two of "what you're looking at?" In reference to your bars 4 smooth bosses/bolts and whatever else you're having a problem with. I/we need a close look too ;)
Thanks!
I'd love to, but the bike is still in my friend's garage across town. I haven't yet gone to get a motorcycle endorsement for my driver's license.

On second thought, I've found a pic online to show what it is to which I refer. The red arrows point to the bosses on the handlebar mount.
Those are simply plastic caps. Gently pry them loose with a pick, gasket scraper, or flat screwdriver.

Prevent scratching.....use Duct Tape ;) it worked perfect for me!

Cut 4 small piece's to cover each of those bar bolt caps.
Now fold down one corner (a little) on each piece of tape (so it sticks to itself). This will serve as a tab to use later.
Securely press 1 piece on each cap (No air bubbles!)
Now one by one pull the tapes tab quickly! The cap(s) will be on the tape and not the floor!

The hex bolts are now revealed.
(do not throw out the 4 pieces of tape....yet! )

Well, yeah, that would work too. :D

Personally, I like chasing flying parts around the workshop, but each to his own.

See, I had no idea those were mere covers.

Next, you'll tell me that there are no nuts underneath the steering head.

Who woulda thunk it?

Bling is often deceptively more complicated in appearance than it is in reality. There is definitely a steering head nut though.

Ish, take a look at this thread:
http://www.hondapcx.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2630
Indeed our PCX's have plenty of bits n pieces. The owner of our forums once had a 2011 model and he took his apart to provide us with this very detailed and picture-full thread.

After seeing/reading his thread I bet you'll feel better about removing those caps and bar bolts

Oh yeah? What kinds of electrical tools are you gathering for the fix Johnny? Jigsaw, circular saw....what?
I have some power tools in stainless steel, all were Dad's (rip). Interested? I Haven't looked in that box in awhile.
Me throw away his BIG HEAVY vise? Nooo, I won't. It's got to be 60+ years old now with an even coat of rust on it. What would I use to remove that rust coating? Would I Soak it in Oil? It's a shame to see it rusty.

Sorry gang, this thread went quiet so I thought I'd drift back to Johnny on the tools.

Re: Mirrors hitting windshield

I keep wanting to post something in this thread related to the mirrors, the handlebars, and the potential windscreen (which I haven't gotten yet) but my scoot is still in my friend's garage. Seems that the jacket I bought to wear has been sitting in the Fed Ex distribution center since April 14, and after several calls to them, they have no idea what I'm talking about. "I'm sorry, sir, but that tracking number does not show up in our system."

So, I had to contact the company I bought it from (I would post a hugely negative review of them, but I don't know what the proper sub-forum is) and after an exchange of six emails telling them I wanted a refund, they finally asked if I wanted a refund, and so now I have to get another jacket (mesh, armored, lightweight, summer, etc) before I will be able to ride it, per my agreement with my wife.

Which is why I haven't added anything to this thread.
I found something to put here.

Then we can talk mirrors, handlebars and that fun stuff again :P

I found what I thought was a really good price for the "Xelement 'Igniter' Mens Silver Tri-Tex Jacket" but after it still not being here at all this week, I got another one. If I have to, I will dig out my old canvas denim work jacket from a few years back, and wear it long enough to get the thing home at least. That jacket, even with no CE pad armor in it saved me from serious injury while cutting down some trees on the job. Problem is, it is heavy as hell. Made of the same canvas denim that fire department turnout coats are made from.

I wore a Wall/carhart style jacket for many years of riding. When I had my crash, the paramedics said it saved me from sustaining worse injuries than what I had.

I love my Tourmaster Sonora 3/4 jacket. In the summer I can take out the wind/rain insert and the quilted liner for warmth. The out jacket is mesh with all of the armor built in. I think the armor is removable but I haven't taken it out. It is very hot with the jacket on in the summer, except when I am riding. Then it is nice and cool.
When I was in college I couldn't afford a riding jacket so I wore jacket from when I was in the military. I made sure I had padding in it. I also wore leather gloves and boots. I did end up having an accident but the jacket saved me from a lot of pain. I would have expected rather had a proper jacket, but any padded jacket is better than no jacket at all. Just keep that in mind and do what you can with what you have until you can afford what you need.

As I've said before, I dont' do humor on forums, and so I don't know whether or not there really is any such thing as a nut under the handlebar head.

The service manual seems to me to be fairly inconclusive, meaning that I don't have the physical scoot here in my presence to compare it to the little drawing in the book.

Can someone give me a straight answer without any attempts to crack jokes (if this is a joke)?

Thought I'd post an update on the jacket...

According to the FedEx tracking site, the package was transferred to USPS on Friday the 22nd, and delivered on Tuesday the 26th.

Problem is, no package, no jacket, no nothing.

The company refunded me already, and I informed them I still had no package to return, and haven't heard anything from them.

This is the first time this has happened to me with a transfer to USPS. I've had FedEx lose more packages than they've ever managed to deliver properly.
I found something to put here.

Sounds like another happy UPS driver with a brand new jacket? I've had equally bad service from all the major international carriers.

DHL take the cake with their dodgy practices. Best for me was when they tried to bill me for a delivery from Indonesia that was already paid by the shipper. I sent them an Invoice for the same amount as they billed me, for parking fees on my driveway. I also suggested there was a penalty for each day the bill wasn't paid. Never heard any more about it. :D :D :D

Well whadaya know, Honda doesn't use the typical setup here. Huh. That's interesting. There is a bolt that holds the steering stem in place rather than a collar and locknut. There is a nut on the bolt of course, so there's that.

The steering stems I've taken apart (only a few admittedly) do have the traditional setup. I'm not sure I like Honda's design here. It seems weaker than the traditional setup.

The nut and bolt in question are on the left side of the photo.

I wasn't joking exactly, I was chuckling because the steering head needs to be secured in some way. I never bothered to check the manual to see that it wasn't the traditional way.
