Tis a fine place, I've had many good times there in days gone by.

Jasper, have you just disconnected the heated grips to see if they're causing a short, preventing the bike from starting? I'd do that before troubleshooting anything else, it'll put you back to your start point to see if anything is broken, or if the grips are the problem.

Great news. Scoot lives!!
Got it recovered into dealers today and they rang this afternoon to tell me they had found the problem.
My heart sank when the opening question was`did you fit the heated grips yourself`
It would seem that when i was tucking the wires down under the dash i dislodged a multi block connector for the start switch.....
What a knob.
Morale of the story when fitting grips or other electricals to the bars please take the extra time to strip the front end down a bit so you can see a bit more clearly.
On a positive note, no charge from the dealer (newcastle motorcycles). Collecting scoot tmora and i will have a slab of 24 stella artois for the service department.
In summary nowt wrong with the bike. Result.

Phew, glad to hear it was something simple and easy! I was worried you blew out something electrical -- electrical problems can be tough to diagnose.
