You got a sharp looking bike there. On the subject of sliders, guys used to put crash bars on their British vertical twins and the story was that if you had to lay the bike down you would slide forever-not a good idea-when the whole idea was to get down and stop.

Several of my bikes had highway bars on them, also known as crash bars, and they saved my life a few times. Yes, they do slide down the road, but in the end I walked away, and the bike sustained very little damage. I liked them, and it was nice that you could add highway pegs to them too.

I think it depends on the design. A crash bung is going to protect against parking horizontally, but if the threaded rod is too hard yes, it could bend the frame when pavement surfing. If it's soft enough and sacrificial, that's what you want--it can be grabbed with a ViceGrips(tm) and bent somewhat straight and unscrewed/replaced--even if the plastic lids takes some damage, the frame will be fine.

Case (puck) sliders are the way to go, with multiple mounting points and staying close to the frame they're more likely to not bend the frame, not get caught on the tarmac, and save your scoot. The negative is that as the plastic wears away your scoot will be sliding away, possibly impacting something with significant force. It's a trade-off.

That's a clever chrome cover. I think youyou was going to paint his black. I wanted to see the results before I take mine to black.

I painted mine satin black.
Looked quite good and stopped it corroding.

That chrome cover would only require removing the exhaust. Very tempting solution as long as it didn't hasten the corrosion of the stock finish under the shielding. You did better with a quality finish but considerable tear down for the paint right?
