I'm with his wife on this one.. Better with motor oil.. But if it were me I would replace the battery at around the 5 yr mark.. Id rather be proactive than reactive. I would hate to hear click on a rainy miserbale day.homie wrote:here she is

Re: Lifespan of Tires & Battery
That's my exact thoughts....yeah maybe the battery will last another year or 2 years at best, but one day it will fail, and odds are it will fail on a miserable day.easyrider wrote:I'm with his wife on this one.. Re: Lifespan of Tires & Battery
I was about to take my bike out this morning when I noticed what look like cracks in my front tire. Is the tire still safe or does it need to be replaced. This is the tire I am considering replacing with a larger tire, but I can't find any in Michelin City Grips.

I would say that tyre needs to go.

Hi All
I had my original tyres already changed once, the rear at 12.5k Km, the front at 15k km due to wear... in regards to the battery I left the scooter accidentally on hidle mod a few days ago I was able to jump start it but I recon after 5 years is about time to have as well the battery changed,.. I have purchased the new one, but waiting a couple of more weeks towards the end of May to replace it

Sure it's legit! After all, it has the seal of the State of Texas proudly displayed in the window. Garza's deal is that if you're willing to go down there and stand around in the broken glass and transmission fluid while you wait your turn out there in the sunshine you're probably gonna drive outa there with a sticker.Gil wrote:montliz44 wrote: Llantas y Stickers Garza
A tire and sticker shop? Sounds legit. Just ride.

When we lived in Laredo I used to go down to this place on lower Santa Maria in El Trece that didn't even look at the vehicle. They just told you to park down the street and bring in your insurance card because they didn't have room for your vehicle in the shop at that particular moment.
Works for me...

Re: Lifespan of Tires & Battery
Ok, I just ordered a replacement tire from Revzilla. They have the best prices. ($50.34 and free shipping)
I ordered a Michelin City Grip 90/90-14.
I had hoped to hold off until I could find a larger tire for the front, 100/80-14 perhaps, but no website that I could find had them in Michelin City Grips. Well my wife's bike has the 90/90-14 on it and it rides well so I guess it will be fine.
Believe it or not that is the original tire that came on the bike. I bought the bike new 4 years ago, and it only has 5,500 miles on it, but who knows how long the tire was on the rack before going on the bike. Still, that is disappointing.

Re: Lifespan of Tires & Battery
The tire says MADE IN THAILAND and the date code is 4812. That would be the week of the end of November and the beginning of December. So, I purchased a 2013 PCX, still in the box, in May of 2014 and the tires were made in 2012. :-/

Thanks for the tip on Revzilla, Mel.
I love Revzilla, but I wouldn't have thought of them for tires. Now that's where I'll go.

So a year and a half. Not unusual. As they were still boxed I suspect it's the sun in the recent four years that is the issue. But it's your call.

Re: Lifespan of Tires & Battery
I switched out my rear tire for a Michelin City Grip after I had only ridden 100 miles or so just because I like Michelin tires. It is still going strong, with no cracks. I would have swapped the front one as well but we had a lot going on at that time and it slipped my mind. I don't have anything against Dunlop. I just like Michelins more.

Re: Lifespan of Tires & Battery
No prob with my 2013 battery yet, even tho it was sitting up for 3 or 4 years before I picked it up....
The tires, on the other hand, have plenty of tread left for ~3,500 miles.... but I just recently noticed that my front tire has cracks all around, while the rear tire has none. Definitely need to replace that tire ASAP, but I've still been riding it wide open every day for about an hour, round trip.

Re: Lifespan of Tires & Battery
I just replaced the front tire on my '13. 12000 miles. Pretty much to the wear bars and some evidence of cracking at the rim. I'm sorta glad we have a motorcycle inspection requirement here - I probably would have run it until I had a problem.
BTW - I replaced it with a City Grip. Final cost to have the dealer procure and install the tire was $138.

On my scoot, getting there is WAY more than half the fun!
