During WW2 my grandfather served in the RAF and worked on Mosquito engines.
When I hear the word "Mosquito" in context with WWII I immediately get that image of that plane. It's like no other. Not even the P-38.

Hell of time during the 30's and 40's. A lot of our parents had gone through a baptism of "fire".

Now old enemies can be friends. At the end of the day it's always a handful of idiots that stir up the pot and the rest of us pay dearly trying to do what we feel is right at the time. Somewhere between a rock and a hard place.

From what I understand Hitler's long range artillery could reach over the channel to the South of England. Any truth to that? We get a lot of movies and war stories about the "Battle of Britain" being mostly as an air war. :?

Part of a bigger story but to invade the Germans needed air superiority.

To me flying machines are lovely to see and great to fly in. I spent quite a few years flying around the Pacific in a C-130 when I was in the Coast Guard and I loved every minute of it. Just imagine seeing the world from up in the sky. Planes have always fascinated me.

I can't say as much about the helicopters though. The bigger ones were much better than the little ones when it came to flying. (I got air sick in the little ones.)
