Made a 220 mile run today on the Xmax, it was a delight. It’s heavy enough that it doesn’t get blown around but it still is very easy to maneuver and flick side-to side. Extremely quiet, I was still in break-in. seat good enf stock and wndshield too......I hit 88 mph on a long stretch… Very happy with this bike.

Maybe the longer wheelbase has something to do with it.

My Xmax with 3000 miles on it, new shocks, new pipe, new sliders, new running lights, new turn signals, and several other mods. The optional Yamaha touring seat is very comfortable.

I hate the five minute editing this forum uses...… Here is some more data:
Average MPG per tank is about 68- I am throttle heavy..... I don't try and "save gas".
Top end is 88 to 92 depending on terrain. Interstate at 70 is a true delight, no wind, roll on is very strong.
No problems as of yet, except for a rectifier that was replaced at 600 for intermittent charging
Sweet spot for weights is 17g after trying 15 and 19.

I didn't realize Yamaha offered an optional touring seat for the XMax. . ..

I did see the passenger back rest system option for about $200 though. 8)

Little trick for reluctant starting scooters with fuel injection which have been left for a while.
When starting use a slight bit of throttle, just take up the slack plus one standard bawhair.
If it starts to cough a bit increase the throttle as required till it catches.
Bit of an inexact science but it works a treat for me.
And my theory based on nothing at all...... the fuel in the throttle body has evaporated and a wee bit of throttle refills it.

I would not recommend using dry gas. . .it's already got alcohol in it and was popular back in the "leaded gas" days.

The ethanol content fuels today draw in moisture out of the air. "Phasing" is a problem with the new ethanol fuels.

I would use "Startron", made by StarBrite, fuel treatment. There are other treatments out there also like "Seafoam". If you just want to clear out some carbon in the cylinders then "Marvel Mystery Oil" added to fuel helps with that. I use it during the Summer in my KLR and Suzuki Bandit gas tanks. For automobiles you can also add it to the crankcase oil as well but always check with manufacturer's recommendations first.

http://www.starbrite.com/startron

And as far as not starting fuel injected engines for a while sometimes they will stutter. It happens in my vintage Honda Civic 1.6L VTEC sometimes. But once it's going it goes like hell! :D

From what it sounds like you've got less than 2K miles on your XMax right? :)

But now you say it was the battery?

I've always had good luck with YUASA batteries. :D
