What!!
At partzilla.com it is less than $30.
What a ripoff!
Put that part number into Google for a better price.

The bearings come individually or you can buy the entire assembly, ready to install.

The set #8 is part number 23205-kwn-640
Have your mechanic price that. It takes very little time to replace the assembly.
Sounds like a great plan and I have already emailed the garage I quoted earlier. I then saw the two follow up posts on likely cost for the whole unit, part 8 you refere to. Welcome to the UK! How can prices vary so much between one country and another! I guess it’s back to plan A....

I am pretty sure thatpartzilla.com ships to the UK.
They are the website that has the assembly for less than $30, plus shipping of course. Still, it would be worthwhile to find the assembly for less than £120. Heck, I bet the part plus shipping from partzilla is half that cost.

Many thanks. I’ll look into that. Do you have any idea on labour time for fitting the whole assembly compared with the two bearings?

I have contacted partzilla.com for an inclusive price to ship to me in the UK. Listed as $28.97 plus shipping. I also found a decent price on bikerbitz.com: £36.94 plus various shipping options just under £25. A lot cheaper than £119 for sure.

The time needed to put the assembly in is half that of replacing the bearings, not counting "press" time (many shops do not have a BEARING press for pressing the bearings out and then back in, so they send the unit out to have it pressed.)
If your mechanic knows what he is doing he should be able to replace the entire assembly in less than an hour.
Any of the other members who have replaced them can give you a good indication, since many members already have the equipment necessary to remove the face set.
Make sure the new bearings are well greased before installing and you shouldn't have any further problems with it.

That’s good to know. Thanks. So it should be possible for a competent mechanic to replace the whole drive face unit and fit a new drive belt in an hour? Otherwise, two hours for just the bearings and drive belt. Certainly the first option is clearly much better all round...if I can get the unit shipped over.

If ordering from abroad remember to factor import duty.
You might get away with it, you might not.
Time to do the entire job from start to finish would be more like two hours.

True. Doing the swap out is only part of the job. Disassembling and reassembling take time. The big savings is NOT having to wait for the parts to be pressed, (... parts are sent out to get that done... which may not show up in your mechanic's time but you WILL get billed for it.)
Either way, expect two hours.

It is always a good idea to expect it to take the longest time but hope for it to be completed sooner. That way you won't be disappointed if it does take 2 hours but you will be pleasantly surprised if it is completed sooner. :-)

So have a positive mental attitude!

I like that.
How does the possibility of import duty work?

I ordered the drivern face assembly and Honda Lead style clutch pads (noted on this forum they give smoother take off than the stock PCX ones) plus some other bits and got them delivered air-frieght to the UK from Partzilla for £46 all in (!) and I did not pay import tax.
I subsequently ordered a centre stand and other parts and got stung for import tax but still much cheaper than UK prices (tax due to package bulk and weight this time as it was more noticable).

Ok. Thanks. So pot luck to some extent. Worse case scenario, what might I get stung for tax wise for a drive belt and driven assembly? Just trying to anticipate what it might be.

Belts are not bulky and could fit in the package with the driven face assembly. You could get lucky and not pay any import tax. Still, plan for the worst, hope for the best.

Import duty is not much, still much cheaper than UK rip off pricing.

How do the tax guys deal with "gifts" from overseas?

“If you buy goods online from outside the EU for delivery to the UK, you'll have to pay Customs Duty (if over £120 value) and Import VAT (if over £18) on top of the purchase price (including duties), though Customs Duty is waived if the amount of the calculated duty payable is £7 or less.”
