Re: Mobius vs. Go Pro? - Helmet or Bike Mount?

I modded the dampener as some suggested I would have to with foam on a cycle. Cycles bounce around more than quads so they have to be a little more restricted. I also picked up a chest mount as I am liking some of those videos too. Tomorrow is supposed to be a nice riding day here near 50 F. The dampener did get rid of the oscillations and waves - it just shook too much in the rubber mounts.

Can you share the results so far?

I didn't upload anything since I started testing the dampener but this is before and you can see the waves and oscillations not to mention the general shakiness. Overcast day coming off the 70 mph highway. I added the dampener which eliminated the waves and oscillations and am now trying to minimize the shakiness inherent in our bikes. It's hard to beat the human body (bag of water) for dampening.

45 F today - just about to test with the dampener modifications.

As always click on the 1080P setting in Youtube for best resolution. At the stop sign you can hear my GPS speaking. lol

@SECoda - The warping is still present. That i believe is a anti shaking feature mode you area using? I would go for a helmet mount in the event I get a camera. Maybe a bullet shaped camera. :D

Waiting for chest mount and Go Pro mount adapter to arrive. :P All of that stuff is real cheap on EBay. I think there are 5 different mounts in the pack for $13. The I bought an adapter for the Mobius which is just a Go Pro/tripod adapter.

The dampener is going on my Blade 350 QX.

I'm going to put mine on the bird feeder today and have some fun up close footage of all that chatter and scrapping. btw the only thing eating cheese in my house after dark is my dog... no mouse so the wife is hearing things :) I set the Mobius to motion detection mode for mouse hunting by using the sensitive option, the thing is endless fun!

SEcoda you're just going to have to mount your action cam on the Helmet, I forget what you don't like about helmet mounts and why you are pursuing the perfect bike mount.

FAST capture with mobius

Yes - for now the helmet mount is the best. The chest mount seems to be a smidgeon smoother (no head bobbing and turning). I bought a EBay Go Pro mount kit cheap ($13) and a Mobius/tripod Go Pro adapter and it came with a side helmet mount and chest mount (actually 5 different mounts). :P Plenty to play with.

Does the Mobius have good battery life?

Way longer than your memory card Steph, over two hours if you set it to loop and overwrite a 32Gig micro card. It was the birds wasn't it? You're a bird watcher 8) I'm putting it out overnight in the grass to see what will come for a piece of cheese  just need to work out the possibility a raccoon will show up and carry it off.

Seems like a cool little camera. Is the battery interchangeable? So you could carry an extra battery and install it when needed.

Not without considerable effort, but there is every kind of charging cord available like your phone. To make a movie bigger than an hour or two would take a very long time to upload to youtube. Some of Valiant's must take 24 hours to be available to anyone other than himself. If you were to make movies for keepsake and not upload to media you could burn them to DVD and I'm sure one 2 hour battery runtime would fill that up. I don't think battery is really of much concern for film time with a 32Gig micro card. You could of course go with a bigger card or use the motion detection feature to conserve energy, time laps to pack more on a memory card, many variables in the settings that use more or less storage or battery. It's not meant to replace your family camcorder for say the next wedding because of its lack of stabilizing features.

The Mobius is a compact 1080p HD action cam for documenting and uploading to social media crazy short clips and do it in a tiny, lightweight, inexpensive device so you can strap it on a Estes rocket and blast off! Oh! that is on my to-do list now

I would use it like a black box for my scoot to record events of interest. Similar to how JoJo87's cam helped in Her time of need. That would be why I'm interested in long battery life.

You would want to have the USB car charger adapter. It comes with packages or sold separately but the ultimate Mobius package is only 25 dollars more. SEcoda has set up his scooter with this ability already and its probably why he's trying to mount to the bike and not the helmet. If you want 100% duty while riding its made to do this and loop the video for a car, but not a helmet because of the charging wire needed. You would have to wear a wire to your helmet which is possible I guess.

In the cold the battery life is about 50-60% of what it is at 70 F so I have been powering it with the Forza 12V outlet but one can do the same with the BT power adapter on the PCX (if it is a 2013). It is nice not have to worry about charging batteries. In the summer the newer larger battery is pretty good unless you want to keep a camera rolling as a record constantly. You can have the recording loop over itself when the SD cards gets full but how many hours can one sit on these things. o_O

Using Google Maps on my LG G3 as a GPS on the Forza with the screen on bright and always on it absolutely requires a power cord.

She is thinking to have actual footage of any incident of herself or John going off which is a very good idea and the continuous loop would be good but you wouldn't have to review it unless needed. So you must first perfect the bike mount because cord to helmet seems peculiar... then I'm into this as well 8)

I guess you could use a phone sized rechargeable battery that would easily go 4-5 charges and fit in a front pocket too if need be. My smaller original battery goes about 80 minutes when warm and about 45-50 minutes in the winter when it is 40 F or so.

I see some cameras mounted on the front (in front of the windshield) but I am not sure how well they work. We met two guys on BMWs and one had a Go Pro on the front. He also ran it to record any incidents that may occur so quality isn't such a big issue.
