Well, yesterday I attached a dashcam to my bike. Now all I have to do is ride, sometime. I rode it around the block to make sure that the video from it was viewable, thinking that the vibration would be too much, but it seems fine. I will have to take it on a longer ride to really test it.

What is interesting is that it saves the file in an .avi format, which my tablet can not read, but my 55 inch TV reads quite well. How do you post a video on here that you can't see on the tablet you are using to post it?? I'm not even sure how you post a video here at all anyway.

A friend of mine told me yesterday that he can't think of anything else that I could possibly put on the scooter. Really??

Mel: Download this converter. You should be able to play MP4 files on your tablet.

Limey,
Thanks for the link but my tablet is a Samsung. You gave me the idea though. I went out to the android app store and found a converter app. I will see how it works the next time I ride.

I am guessing that my Facebook account will allow me to attach the video, though I don't know much about it either. That is my wife's territory.

Well, I think I have figured this out a little. Here is the link to my video of my ride, starting from my house. I don't know how to connect the video directly to this site, though.

OK, so I just set the permission to public. See if that made any difference. Like I said, Facebook is my wife's thing so I am not sure how it works. Hopefully it will work for you now.

Mel - Your link worked like a charm. . .! :D

Amazing trip. It's like you went from a piece of paradise to traffic city in short order. :o

Adds clarity as to why you profess ATGATT.

I do remember going through some towns like that when I used to visit Georgia back in the early 2000's.

Thanks for sharing and may the "Force" be with you on your rides! ;)

I know that it doesn't seem like I am going anywhere in the video. That is because the dashcam automatically saves every 10 minutes, or when it is shut off. Since it is directly connected to my battery it will not automatically shut off. I grabbed one of the longer saved files.

Those big, wide streets were once farm roads, 30 years ago. Now our little subdivision is within walking distance from major intersections, shopping centers, and new million dollar homes being built in upscale neighborhoods. The back of our subdivision backs against one of the largest upscale neighborhoods in Georgia.

It use to be quiet here. Now we hear the sirens day and night as police, ambulances, fire trucks, and whatever else zoom by. We didn't have any crime here either, but now we have been discovered by the less desireables because of interconnecting bus service and the fact that a big stadium has just been built in our county, without voter approval I might add. Now the banks get robbed and a car gets stolen, and the chase is on to get back to the bad part of town before the police catch them.

...and life goes on. ...and we get to ride in heavier and heavier traffic. I miss the peace and quiet.

I totally get that!

It reminds me of Greensboro. . .near the Reynolds Plantation Golf Course and Lake Oconee. At one time the surrounding areas were rural. . .relaxed. . .agricultural. Then over a few short years megalopolis moved in with Pizza Hut and everything else. I did some canoeing on Lake Oconee and went to the top of Stone Mountain where I could see Atlanta off in the haze. Wow. . .had some great times there. . .did the Coke Museum too!!! :D

Madison Georgia is still somewhat nice though (or at least it was almost 20 years ago). It's one of the few towns that Sherman didn't destroy on his "March to the Sea".

Been through Milledgeville also. . .the old capital. There's a lot of history and places to visit in Georgia as you well know. :geek:

Five things I remember about Georgia - heat, lizards, ants, kudzu, and boiled peanuts. :D

Atlanta is a combination of old and new, but now it is mostly new, as progress is slowly pushing out the old. Even the mountain areas are being populated with new "second homes".

I don't have any problems with progress, as long as "progress" doesn't mean rudeness...and "progress" doesn't mean that Southern history has to be totally replaced. Just like anywhere else, the people from the South are proud of their history, good or bad.

As for heat, yes we have it...lizards, my dog loves to chase them...kudzu, yes, it is everywhere you want to be. It got there first....and boiled peanuts, well peanuts in general are a thing of the South. They are like popcorn, except the shells make quite a mess, but peanuts sure taste good. Get your broom out. You will need it. :-)

Filtering will get you killed here. No lane splitting either. Scooters are kind of hard to see when you are texting, so the best thing to do is be seen, and then stay there.

I did move over when the kid in front of me couldn't keep up with traffic for some reason. ( He had that SENIORS) sign on the back of his SUV, that mom and dad probably bought for him for not flunking out.)

In my area I think a lot of people just look at scooters or motorcycles as something to be "tolerated" on the road rather than mutually respected. :|

If you try to split lanes or filter here CT you may end up getting seriously injured (if not killed) because it isn't accepted as part of the highway culture. . .it's just not expected. And when people do, all it does is cause anger and confusion with average drivers. People generally don't like those who "cut in line" and get ahead out of turn. :x

In Europe, India, and Asia for example it's a whole different culture. Motorcycles and scooters are a huge part of the highway scene and have been for a very long time. They are much more widely accepted as the norm of transportation rather than just being a toy or ego wagon. IMHO. . .. :geek:

That said, here's a nice video of someone on an older Zuma 125 filtering his way through NY City on his way to Brooklyn. It's a two part video journey. The stop lights are a bore but other than that it's quite entertaining. Nice to watch when it's raining out and not a good time to jump on your own scoot. ;)

And now heading for the bridge.

The man was on a mission amid a sea of cages. . ..
