2018 us xmaxes have had a rectifier problem....causes intermittant charging, batt goes flat....part replaced on warranty.

Good catch on that!
I couldn't find any info on it though . . ..
Do you have a link to the information you found?

No Yamaha information on it yet, but there are three of us that have had it happen on the adv rider thread… Somewhere around page 60 to 80 here. It just a bad run of parts, 20 min warr fix. The sky is not falling.

Thanks!
At least it's not a stator issue.
I'll keep that in mind when I'm ready to move up to a 300.

Alls right with the world. Perfect!
Thanks Glen, I too will keep this in mind although it should be a non-issue with the Xmax moving forward. Perhaps some other issue or pray nil. Yes to that!
How have the temps been in Southeast Florida? Mid 70's day? Perfect riding

I do miss Florida winter rides...sigh

Yup, Nice riding now, doing a 300 mi trip across Florida next week. Here's my xmax with mods finished; pipe, seat, sliders, turn signals, running lights, shocks, lith batt, cf trim, 3000 miles so far, perfect.

Beautiful! Love the White as always. Very tempting this 300 maxi is. Hmm...
Ok. Typing Honestly (I know you appreciate that) there are those dang mirrors Again that pop out.
Just like the PCX. That's why you and I changed those out so quickly. They're like a fugly Big Ear(s) focal point.
What say you? Are you happy with their placement? do they do their job, can you see past yourself?
Your Xmax IS a dream to look at but then...Bam! Is it me, you see that too right?
Do you think Yamaha considered placing them forward, like in the front fairing? Who knows.
Overall, no matter as long as they do their job and save you from a bump or......
Who am I kidding. Of course looks matter! Said Glen and WN
Edit: forgot to ask. From where to where is across Florida?
Ft. Lauderdale to Naples? Marco Island?
via Alligator Alley?

They are terrible without mirror extenders, Which I have… I get a good view behind me. Long-term I might find something else.....Not a fan of the mirrors that jut out from the faring… They look too much like alien antennas....

Agree, "some" do remind me of that also. They need taming. Ok so we can't solve the rabbit ear appearance without an aftermarket exchange. I'm sure you're on the hunt, you'll find something...perfect
Anywho please go back Glen, I edited my post. I asked more questions

I got a chance to stop by my local Yamaha dealer today and sampled an SMax and XMax for ergonomics and features. Didn't take either one for a ride but didn't walk away feeling like I needed to either.
The XMax fit me like a glove. Just right. Handlebar reach and windscreen height already seemed spot on although they are adjustable mechanically. The seat was comfortable, roomy, and plush compared to my Zuma 125 and I thought that seat was OK. The light in the under seat "box" is a nice feature for night time and the capacity was generous. The legroom was more than enough and I felt I didn't need to put my feet forward on the elevated/slanted foot space of the leg shield area.
The SMax was nice also. It will be a difficult decision but at the end of the day I think I'll consider spending the extra $$ for the XMax.
For 2019 the XMax sold in the U.S. is Matte Black which is not a bright and shiny readily visible color but I have a Hi Viz Yellow Vest and Hi Viz Yellow Joe Rocket Jacket with armor.
I'm taking a week to decide.
I also checked the Honda Scooter News and still nothing is said about an arrival of a the new Forza 300 here. In fact they haven't posted anything on the scooter page since last November 2018.

I wouldn't worry too much about the Forza not being available - the XMax is a great scoot too. I only went for the Forza due to the slightly lower seat height and the electric screen but I really enjoyed my test ride on the Yamaha. Hard to fault it.

yes i wasent sure what was wrong i thought it might be that rectifier problem but i noticed every time the tempature drops the battery has no power at least now i know its nothing serious i dont ride it when its that cold but i like to start the bikes in the garage i dont want them just sitting for extended periods

It may have something to do with the Smart Key System also. . ..
Does it keep emitting radio waves even when you are not riding it? Or have it turned off?
They recommend charging the battery if you let it sit for a month without riding it. Do you have any problem removing/replacing the cover off the front of the scooter to access the battery? Is it just a couple of screws to take out?
The battery in the Smart Key itself is supposed to be good for 2 years but will let you know when it starts getting low on the dash display. It's a coin type battery. Always something to look out for in the computer age.

turn on the bike , let it idle, wait 5 min and pull up the dash voltmeter. If it reads less than 13, you have a recitifier problem.....
