Just got word from the local Water Company that although we received very heavy rains yesterday and last night our water is still safe to drink. That said some roads were still declared closed this morning due to flooding.
I'll bet there were some flooded areas where WN lives too.
Basically this area got hammered last night and it wasn't even a hurricane or tropical depression.

Old girlfriend used to tell me stories about wells running dry in CT. Fully soaped neighbor asking to use their shower because his well just cut out again. Few years ago.

Oh yes. . .that's a fact. In the 50's and 60's there were some dry spells here. Some of the older homes/farm houses had shallow wells and those could cause concern. Drilling deep was the way to go.
Back in 2015 and 2016 things were rather dry as well. Even if you had "city water" you had to be concerned when you saw all the exposed shoreline in the reservoirs.
Lately the weather has just been awful here. . .extreme humidity and unusual heat indexes. Global Warming . . . it's real!
More people should ride scooters.

Rain? Around here it either floods or misses you all together. Recently the weatherman said 15% chance of rain and the sky opened up and dumped like a hurricane. A few days later he predicted the same chance of rain and we got zero. Not even a drop. I wish I had a job where I was paid big money to be right 50% of the time. :-/
What was the degree they went to school for...Maybeology??

Mel - What's left of Storm Michael is just a few of hours away as the crows fly from my digs. Long Island is likely to get hammered as well. WN won't be on his PCX later today.
I saw the reports that it was still at Cat 1 when it hit Georgia. . .hope all is well. Looked like Macon and points east of Atlanta took a serious hit. Rare to have a Hurricane that far inland.
We are due for hours of Thunderstorms and heavy rain. . .amounts up to 5 inches could soon be at my doorstep. It all depends on how far out to sea it tracks. I'm stocked up on sardines.

Yes, the outer bands of Michael dumped rain on us all night long. Now it is windy, but nowhere near what middle Georgia got and the Carolinas. From what i am seeing on the weather channel you are in for it as well. Strange that it travels so far so fast.

WN - Yes, finally the rain is done for a couple of days. More on Monday but only hit or miss after that for a while.
Puddles still drying up. . .. Twigs and small branches need sorting into piles after all that wind.
Sure feel bad for those folks in the Southern states that got hammered from Storm Michael.
Now it's like instant late November. Air conditioner pulled from the window. Time to break out the Winter riding gear. Good luck with the duck feathers!

Thanks Old G! Tonight it's me and the feathers first run. Didn't see any poking whilst spreading it out.
Today: Cool, with sun and clouds. Nice. Highest temp 58. I will be covering the A/C unit. Pulling a few last weeds. Washing summer rockers for storage. Perhaps a ride afterwards. Who said Sundays were a Day of Rest? Seriously?

No rain today in Orlando - beautiful weather so I ran some errands in my vert. I would have used my scooter but I haven't gotten a tag for it yet - hopefully I'll have it tagged by next weekend

Well good for you. At least you dont have to deal with the wreckage that the panhandle does now. If you can enjoy the night, why not?

Oh yeah - the damage to the Panama City area was just awful. Nice thing about Orlando is we're far enough inland that by the time hurricanes get to us they've been weakened significantly. I remember in 2004 having hurricanes Charley, Frances, and Jeanne all hit Orlando within a couple months time but the damage was minimal compared to what folks on the coast experienced. Which is why I'll never move to the coast.
