Good to see Both bikes out and about. Hi to wife who sits proudly on "her Forza."
Rain? Nope. That comes later tonight.
Presently it's 29 degrees and Just started Snowing. Couple of inches will accumulate before it gets washed away (I pray).
Anyone else try this yet or a similar one? Like it?

8*c here today in the uk......expected to be a light frost tonight so the highways dept are throwing down grit salt on the roads so it now resembles a beach.....a normal panicked approach to a bit of frost....2pm today....all local / major roads where we live were dry and now they are wet and salty so no more riding for a while

Look what UPS just dropped off! Ordered in XL burgundy color:
WN - Those are sure better than using cardboard!
You won't have to worry about soggy frozen cardboard sticking to the glass.
Wise expenditure and it will save you time. Fire up the defroster and you'll be good to go.

I use to put cardboard inside a plastic garbage bag and close the ends of it in the door...that was back in the days when I lived in a climate that had snow. I have stayed down "South" since I moved away from that frozen stuff, and I don't plan on returning to it.
One of my daughters lives in the Seattle area and they are getting snow. My others daughters just laugh. They live in California. (Our boys live in California and here in Georgia. They don't like snow either. They go on vacation if they want to experience snow.)

Yes'um This day is better!
It's 27 degrees, breezy, blue skies 'n sun.
We did get about 3" of snow the other day. By evening, the rain followed as told. Afternoon snow and evening slush caused accidents everywhere. Look Ma, no control! Yikes!
That Evening's news gave us/showed us an example of a 15-20 car pileup that left 8 injured on the Bronx River Parkway. What a sight, vehicles out of control sliding into one another, (it looked like that slip 'n slide game) A few Panic stricken passengers got out of their vehicles trying to stop their car from sliding. Not a good idea! Think Sandwich(ed)
In a matter of seconds So much damage occurred. What a sight. Glad I stayed home.....
But not always. In my youth I found myself in a few slides. Lost control as if my hands were off the wheel. It all happens so quickly, yet feels slow-mo. You can relate.
Everyone of those slides took me Off Road.
Re-calling one: It was late Christmas night, I was leaving my family and heading home. There are a lot of hilly roads in Dix "Hills" and a lack of street lamps. With headlights beaming I could see the sheen before me. The plows had come, the snow was packed. It was slippery. My '88 Cougar (Charmin) always had lousy snow traction. I felt uneasy as I knew there was a stop sign at the base of the incline I was on. I was dreading it! Then I thought, I won't stop, no ones on the road anyway (but me ) I'll just take the turn like a turtle. I took my time getting to that sign but then it quickly felt like we took on speed. It was then that Charmin took the wheel - off the pavement into the grass. She finally stopped with her nose about to plow through the Towns chainlink fencing. Holy Crap!! There I sat. With a thumping heart. I Prayed She could back-out of the mess we created. Think Slow reverse WN.
We did so but with a slight bit of sideways action. Oh no..Finally her rear grabbed enough road to get us out and Back on the road. Still...Not a soul in sight. I took a deep breath, thanked my God and crawled towards home again.
In good weather I'd be home in 25 minutes. That night it took me hours.
Believe me when I say, There's no place Like Home!

Definitely cold out today. About 30 F. and windy again.
Only got a few miles in around town on the 125.
Possibly rain/mix due next weekend. Depends how the storm tracks.
In the mean time the next few days should be a tad warmer. I'd like to start up the bikes and run them for a bit. It will keep the batteries charged and I think 10 or 15 miles should be enough to remove any condensation from the crankcase.
Definitely have to avoid any areas with residual salt accumulation. Sometimes the trucks dump more than usual at intersections.
Hearing the "tink tink tink" of salt granules and sand being thrown up under the fenders and frame is not music to my ears.

there must a more eco friendly way to keep the roads ice free ?
Austria once trialed bio degradable onto freeze based on alcohol from Wine over production....Doesnt harm the wildlife when watered down with rain /snow etc unlike salt which destroys flora and wrecks motorcycles

So true!
Your story made me think back to those days of driving those big 6 passenger cars with rear wheel drive. The "right rear wheel" would spin like crazy pulling away on slippery surfaces . . .. Loads of fun until you got stuck.
Oh . . . and doing donuts on snow covered parking lots before they were plowed. That was fun too. Stores were closed on Sundays and no traffic.
