I see that you have homeless people even in your little town. I would not be surprised to find that they are veterans. After all, this is often what happens to those with PTSD. The VA does not seem to be equipped to handle them on an inpatient basis. Add to that the big problem with removal of opioids from the VA system and you end up with a lot of forgotten veterans. Thank you for your service. Here is some aspirin. Next!

Have a Happy 4th.

Mel, I don't take photos of the homeless.
Those are flowers planted in the newly renovated alley.
Unless, there are some ex-LRRP's hiding in the corn....??

Yup . . . Happy 4th guys!

It's hot in NY. It's hot here. It's damn hot. It's so hot that you can hear corn on the stalks popping.

The "Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest" 2019 Champion is again Joey Chestnut (71 dogs and buns in 10 minutes). Miki Sudo clinched the Woman's Title with 31. Makes me hungry just thinking about it. :D

Two popular icons of the Big Apple. . .. :geek:

The Brooklyn Bridge (looking toward Brooklyn).

The Ambrose Light Ship (LV87 - built in 1908).

Thanks . . . the pix were taken in July 2011. Time flies. o_O

I'm still using the same trusty Kodak. :D

BTW I've eaten a ton of Nathan's Dogs. Visiting there (in the "off season") is still on my bucket list.

More recently I've learned to appreciate "Sabrett". ;)

All that said tonight I'm grilling up some "Bubba Burgers" with Onions already in them. I think I can down three plus the sides . . .. :?

Party on for the 4th!!! 8)

Another pic from Pier 16 (the bow of the "Peking" in the foreground) facing Manhattan. The ship since has been returned to Germany at great expense for restoration and is supposed to be sent to Hamburg to the German Port Museum in 2020.

Where balmy Breezes Blow

WN - The weekend ain't over yet . . . but now it's even more humid. And the gas eating dinosaurs roam the highways and clog the streets. The spiders spin their webs to let nature catch a view with an eye to the wind . . ..

Sounds like you saw some great fireworks! Things were lively on this side of the Sound as well. When it's clear I can actually see bursts of fireworks in the sky on Long Island from the local beach. 8)
