Hi, just purchased a 125 PCX...Reg Nov 2018 ( 2019 model) with 300 miles on the clock.

Would like to know if I can keep the battery charged using an Optimate charger via the 12v socket located in the front storage pocket or do I have to connect direct to the battery terminals ?

If the socket is live with the ignition off then yes, if not connect to the battery.

Never really had a problem with the battery going flat over winter . Just went into the garage , started it up and give it a rev to turn the back wheel on the centre stand think that charges the battery , might be wrong but never had any problems. Do it every couple of weeks for a few minutes .

That’s what I do and I’ve never had a problem in 42 years of riding. It was particularly good for two strokes as it kept the crank seals wet.

I keep my big bikes on optimates during the winter in the garage /workshop as I don't ride through the wet/salty/cold weather ( wussy biker nowadays ) I have never owned a small scooter and the last time I rode a bike with a 125 cc engine was aged 17

No fun in riding in the winter , had my pcx since March , never been wet yet . Retired now so I can pick and choose when I go out . No need for 7am starts in the cold & wet . This is my second pcx and the batteries seem pretty strong . Just like you you said spinning the back wheel will pump a bit oil around the crank . I went on holiday for 4 weeks in the summer , came back & scoot started no bother . But it’s your choice , do what you feel comfortable with .
