so many good songs and if you try and watch a video of the Beatles the quality is always poor

so this lot are not the Beatles but they are pretty close and the quality is something you will never see with the actual Beatles

are they long forgotten ? or still worth remembering? :P

Probably the most over-rated band of all time.

When the Beatles arrived they changed music forever. They took a little bit of every kind of music and incorporated it into their music. This brought a lot of good music to the mainstream public, including Motown, Jazz, Country, Indian and much more. I was young enough to remember it and old enough to be involved during that time. It was the spark that started the psychedelic rock era. Then the "British Invasion" happened, which I think helped insure that the world of rock music would be forever changed. Don't underestimate their contribution. It was tremendous.

I too am old enough to remember them first time around.
They were a vanilla pop band, nothing special.
As for "spark that started the psychedelic rock era" well, that's just laughable.

Listened to them, and other Brit groups, on Radio Luxembourg* (I think it was) when I was at Paris American High School for 4 years in the 60's.
Father was stationed in Paris.
I was a folkie** - never much for the Beatles - but enjoy listening now.

* was that the correct radio station I might have been listening to?
** always thought "Tom Dooley" made Dylan & many others, possible.
Sad to see what's happening in Paris now.

We each have our own feelings about the music The Beatles played, but I was one of those 17 year olds when they came on the scene. I saw the changes in my generation. I felt the changes. There was just something about them and their music.

I can't explain it, but I do know that as time went by we often discussed what they would produce next since the music world was now moving forward so fast that anything was possible. We were never disappointed with what came next from them and other bands during that time. It was a good time for music.
