How much difference is the PCX 125 from the PCX 150?

Hey Everyone! I have a 2013 PCX 150 and I'm looking for another used PCX for my spouse. All the used 150's I find are in the $2,500 range. The 2011 PCX 125's are much cheaper. Is there a big performance difference in the two? If I get the 125 would I wish I had spent the extra money and got the 150? I really can't afford $2,500-$2,700 and I'd like to buy one before summer hits. I paid $1,500 for my 2013 150 last year. I haven't been able to find another deal like that one and I want a different color other than red. What is everyone's opinion?
Thanks,

This one in Michigan is $1599 - only $K miles. Might be worth the drive? It is red, however!!

When looking at a 2011 PCX 125 it is essential to check the main stand mount pivots.
These have a faulty design and can tear holes in the crankcase.

The difference between the 125cc and the 150cc is not much, but it is enough that some owners of the 125cc have put big bore kits in, which raises the engine to 170cc. Also, the original 125cc had a problem with the center stand, which had the possibility of breaking and cracking the crankcase. Still, it is a viable solution if most of your riding is under 55 mph.

I live in a mountainous area, so maybe the 125cc might not maintain speed going up hill.

Aside from the center stand issues, wasn't there also a problem with noise in the rear wheel area caused by the clutch (driven face bearing)?
Here's a link to the parts diagram . . .. The call it "Face Set, Driven".

Aye, a PCX is fine in town but out on the open road you need more.
Even a slight gradient will knock a PCX down to around 45-50mph.
My opinion: 250cc as a minimum out of town.

Even the 150 had/has the possible problem with the clutch bearing. My wife's 2013 model was one of the first that we discussed on this forum. Since then there have been others with newer PCX's who have had the same issue.
I agree that a bigger engine would work better in mountains but that doesn't mean that the PCX is not suited for riding there. We have Blue Ridge here and many scooters are seen up there making their way through the curves at what can be considered a good speed on those curves. I have taken my 150 up there quite a few times. Keep in mind that many of those roads have a speed restriction due to the curves and lack of a shoulder.
You would need to take your 150 up there and check your speed as you go. If it goes above 55 then you will need at least a 150 to proceed safely.
By the way, the mountains are one of the reasons I installed the NCY variator, drive face, and rollers on our bikes. This combination gives me enough extra speed to offset the speed decline from going up hill.
