No parking brakes for uK models

I recently used my side stand for the first time and quickly realized that it's no good on sloping surfaces as the bike rolls away.....luckily this happened just as I got off the bike and caught hold of it before careered off down the road.

The UK/EU PCX 125 is not fitted with a parking brake and wondered if anyone has used one of these to lock up the rear brake?

The link is for an example of the device - not what I intend to purchase ....

Park your bike uphill or use the centrestand.

You need to position the scooter so that it doesn't move.
For sidestand, pointing uphill at an angle and leaning over downhill, ideally on the right side of the road with the rear wheel on the kerb.
Using centrestand, pointing uphill and facing in the direction which will make the scooter stand vertical.

I don't have a parking brake on either of my small scooters - so I carry a few thick rubber bands on the R turn signal pod. Reach down, wrap the band on front lever and the grip. Use two at a time for insurance.
It doesn't apply undue pressure on the system, just holds the scoot steady while I take snaps or have coffee.

You could use a Griplock , find them on EBay for about £10 . You can lock it round your grips and your front or rear brake lever . Security and will stop it moving . You can get them in loads of colours as well .

it was parked up hill .....

So it rolled away backwards when still on the stand?

I put it on the side stand facing up hill outside a local
Shop —— parked parallel to the kerb and it started rolling backwards down the hill ... luckily
I grabbed the handlebar as it started moving

So will be getting one of those brake locks from
eBay not just for security but to act as a parking brake
I wonder why Honda decided not to fit them on UK/EU models ?

Once again, use the center stand ... Park with the front wheel going up the hill, then actuate the center stand. Absolutely no way it’ll go down the hill.

Problem arose because you parked parallel to kerb.
Park at enough of an angle to the kerb and it won't roll away.

Because most of us know how to park properly :D

Brick behind the rear wheel?

Big stick through the wheel spokes?

Tie it to the nearest vehicle?

Thank you for the constructive comments which will be filed accordingly. The use of a griplock
Device will he ordered for those photographic / coffee / adhoc stops when kerbs , trees , bricks are in short supply or when there’s no one about to advise me how to park the bike

I attach a Griplock to my bike as a security measure, but it could be used to keep the bike from rolling away.

Come to think of it, I think that is sort of the reason for the Griplock, though if someone really wanted to steal the bike they could put the front wheel on a wheel dolly and roll the bike to their truck or van. It isn't much of a security device in that sense, but it is good for stopping for coffee or some other short stop where you have the bike in view all the time.

Good suggestions mentioned all around (place a "thumbs up" emoji here).

Parking on Hills can be/is intimidating. Add wind gusts and...Not so good. Yorkie150 it's good that you asked! Others wonder too - as to, what to do

Heh how about our Californian's what'cha say to hill parking in San Francisco? Any input on this?

Me, I never have or wanted to use the park brake. "Oh ye of little faith" WN
Getting the adjustment set is too finicky. Here ya go...the dealer didn't even know the PCX had one (or...He pretended he didn't). I'm at the store days Before taking delivery and I asked him to properly adjust it. Sure, no problem. Days later my scoot was delivered. He failed at the task. The adj was too tight. I did it myself and have since let it be (not using). I too have a Grip-Lock.

Honda...you can take your park brake back, I won't miss it. Ya might want to give me/us something else? Like: __________________
