Hi everyone. I bought a new 2019 Honda PCX 150 a couple weeks ago. I have put 255 miles on it. I park in the same place in my apartment garage and have noticed a buildup underneath where I park:



I don't know if I should be concerned or if this is normal for a new scooter. Here is another view (I parked adjacent to where I normally park to take the photo).



I started to wipe down the scooter, but you can see here some of the grime that has accumulated:




Even tonight, when I arrived home after a 25-minute ride there was immediately a few drops below the scooter:



Anybody else experience this? I'm a complete noob, so don't know whether to take it to Honda or if it's normal with new machines.

Straight back to the dealer get them to take a look.
Could be overfilled oil, could be a leaky mechanical seal, could be a few things.
Worst case scenario would be cracked centrestand mount lugs which are part of the crankcase castings.
Shouldn't be happening on a brand new PCX, should be bone dry underneath.

Thank you gn2. I'll call the service department when they open tomorrow.

Mine 3 years and never a drop on the floor....none.....My money is on a loose drain plug… Did this possibly start to occur the last time somebody changed the oil/worked on engine?

has the oil filler / dipstick been left loose ?

Have you checked all the breather hoses to see if they are dripping ...may give an indication as to where the drips are coming from.

Above all as its a brand new bike...return it to the dealer with photographs of the oil on the floor


Ref the above on the centre stand lugs .....I have also noted how weak and fragile they look and that they could easily fracture...It would have ben much better to have a frame mount centre stand .....Thats why I always use the side stand ...as it seems much stronger fixing

Hi Glen. It's a brand new machine, so I haven't had it serviced yet. I'm going to take it back to the dealer for the service department to look into it. I'm taking pictures with me to show them.

The last time mine left any drops on the floor it was because I forgot to use a crush washer on the oil drain plug. I ended up draining the oil, cleaning the drain plug threads, adding the crush washer, and refilling the oil. It stopped then. Reach under the bike where the drain plug is and feel for fresh wet spots on and around the bolt. Chances are that is where the leak is.

Almost 6 years on and changing the oil yearly, I'm still using the same washer that the bike came with and no leaks - I did have a small leak the 1st time I changed the oil and that was due to not tightening the bolt enough (but do not over-tighten, and no need for any torque wrench sillyness on small bolts)

You shouldn't be riding it anywhere. Scoot's Under warranty.
Call dealer, explain leak to your salesman, he should then refer you to their service mgr.
In a nice but very serious manner, tell mgr you're not riding it to them or anywhere. Please come fetch it.
Back yourself up by Texting over a few of those "leaky" photos (do so either during or right after that phone call).

That looks to be a substantial amount of oil on your floor. Be safe first and always. Please

Thank you. I just reached out to the service department asking them to come to pick up the scooter. I also included links to photos in my message. I was feeling so uneasy about riding it 24 miles to the dealer service department knowing there may be a problem. Hopefully, I'll hear back soon.

Would probably be fine to ride, a little spill goes a long way, it's possibly less than a thimble full.
But no point taking chances when its brand spanking new and under warranty.

You should check the oil level in the crankase and gear box.Mostlikely a loose oil drain plug,but you can check that yourself and put a wrench on it to see if its leaking and snug.

Here we go! I hope it's nothing major. I really appreciate the pickup service.

Sometimes the drain washers don't seal properly. But it's a new scooter, it shouldn't leak.

I think you made the smart decision.

I got the PCX back today. Since the dealer had not called, I reached out around lunchtime. Turns out the scooter was ready. They said that the culprit was a loose oil cap. They charged me for the pickup and for some oil. I had a great ride home, and it was fun to be back on the scooter. I waited about 3 hours after getting home and walked out to check the scooter. I didn't see any oil, so that is a great sign.

Oil cap loose?? The oil is put in by way of the dip stick.

Did they give you the remainder of the quart of oil? How much was left in the bottle?

Wow! Is that right? There is no oil "cap"?

I just watched a video about changing the oil. I saw a drain plug and a dipstick, but no cap. You know that feeling you get when you think someone is not being honest. I got that feeling in the service center. Maybe they overfilled it initially and were embarrassed to admit that. Weird.

That's kinda shady. So they used the whole quart? How much did they put in? How low was it when you checked the bikes oil?
