2012 rear brake drum new install - slack!

Hey everyone I’m really hoping someone could give me some advice, my problem is the rear brake cable snapped on my 2012 pcx and I ordered whole new cables (foolishly I cut the top half of the cable thinking it was one piece.) so I have both the parts required and I have actually taken all the plastics off and installed these to the best of my ability yesterday.

My problem is now they’re installed I have slack on the cable to the point I can tighten both ends all the way up which will barely grip the drum brake! I believe I have followed the same path and put it back within the brackets the previous cable was in, the bike has only 12,000 km on the clock so I’m pretty sure the brakes shouldn’t be worn.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated thank you!

I am assuming that you made sure that you had pad left on your brake. Did you get the cable from an OEM dealer? It sounds like it might be the wrong one.

Hi thanks for your reply. I have doubled checked the item it is the OEM lower brake part for Honda pcx 2012 125 which is the same bike. It is possible I have missed a bracket or ran the cable incorrectly giving it an inch or so slack to not tighten too? Am I correct the only two places to tighten it are at the assembly part that connect the upper and lower brake and at the opposite end of the lower, by the back wheel. Thank you once again for any responses
