Hello all,
So i bought a service kit as i am fed up spending in excess of £70 on the garage to do my services for me...
Now they've sent me Petronas f500 10w-40 semi synth 4T JASO oil...
Am i not supposed to use 10w-30 MB rated?

All i see is conflicting info so im hoping you all can help me out here!

10w 40 is fine....Unless you are in a super cold climate like Canada, then I will use 10 W 30.

I use both JASO MA2 & MB if I can get my hands on it. MB is a bit scarce on the ground here in the U.K. If you are interested to know the difference, I read that MA & MA2 is designed for engines with a wet clutch whereas MB is for engines without.
I’ve done around 30,000 miles over the past three years on my scoot with JASO MA2 and it hasn’t gone bang yet so I would say it’s fine to use.
Hope that helps

Good Morning. I have more than 50000 km done with Castrol racing 5w40 jaso ma2 and in the gearbox or gearbox (whatever you want to call it) valvulina Castrol 75w90, continues to walk every day 60 km a day at least ... and sometimes at speeds 140kh...

I'v been using the 10w30 version of the Castrol Power Racing 4T for 7 years in both engine and final drive (comes out looking like new from the rear, yet on FB tey try and sell people £10 gear oil for these scooters!).

As has been mentioned 100's of times - literally - on this forum, it does not matter - any good oil will do as there is no wet clutch and it's a low power scooter. Some use car oil, others using 4T oil, and the book calls for 10w-30 for our part of Europe but 10w30/40 or 5w-xx works just as well, but some may be a little to runny or thick at times, but the bike will care less and run perfectly.

7 years on (mid '14 LED PCX) - still getting 142mpg on the dash (135 real lites in, trip) and starts and runs perfectly after all year round use.

Just this. If only there was a like button for common sense...
