2013 PCX Dash Lights stopped working

On my dash, all the lights work EXCEPT the LEDs for the Speedometer. Has anyone had this issue and tried to replace the LEDs or other repair to add lights for the Speedometer? I'm thinking of adding a couple 3mm LEDs tied to a hot wire from the headlight low beam or some other location that goes hot when the key is on. Any suggestions before I start making the mod?? Gonna have to wait for the LEDs to arrive, so I have time before the "surgery".
Replacing the whole dash is not within my current financial abilities.

Given the age of the bike I'd be suspecting the LEDs too....

The LEDs are definitely bad. I can't replace them as they are surface mount LEDs and I don't have the necessary tools to do that. The whole dash assembly would have to come apart. Looks like an LED mod is in the future. I have some cool purple ones coming in soon.

Get the Kitaco gauge kit it worth it.
