Hi,

I live near a level crossing which is only one of two ways into and out of my village. The level crossing is also kindly situated on quite a steep hill and the other road out is a very narrow winding road which buses like to career around!

Haven't found much info online about crossing them apart from that they may obviously be slippy etc. I was wondering how best to approach crossing a level crossing and the tracks?

There's a few different types of level crossing, full gates, half barriers, open with no gates.
The best way to go across the tracks is at right angles but this may not be possible due to the layout.
It's no worse than riding across a manhole cover.

Half barriers are the worst imo, never ever be tempted to go around the barrier and remember that if they stay down with the lights still flashing it means there's another train due to come past.
Tram tracks?
Just stay off them altogether.
