in doing a google search and site search, i am not finding a good review of the pirelli diablo. in reviews of the city grips riders are reporting noticeable negative performance in acceleration and top speed.

what is your experience with that if you have the city grip tires? (gn2, feel free to give me your grouchiest answer! i find those humorous!)

how are the pirelli diablos?

I have a Michelin City Grip rear in the correct 100/90 size.
Excellent tyre.
Highly recommended.
No effect whatsoever on speed or acceleration, anyone who says so is talking utter shite.

thanks gn2!

any other opinions?

on a side note, here is what happened at the tire shop today:

At Japan Tire Center- my local motorcycle tire shop, they do a few car tires on the side

'c' is pronounced like the word 'she' by and in japanese

Me: what do you think about the tread on this rear tire? is it still safe in the wet? rainy season is coming, about how many more kilometers before i should replace it?
Tire guy: about 1000 maybe.

Me: do you have a michelin city grip rear?
Tire guy: sorry no, the shitty grip is on backorder.

Me: i dont really want a shitty griping tire in the wet. how about a city grip, do you have that?
Tire guy: no, the shitty grip is on back order now, it will be 3-4 weeks before we get any.

Me: ok, could i please order a shitty grip out of your next shipment now?
Tire guy: sure, we will keep a shitty grip tire for you. (i know these tire guys way too well...)

If both are the same size then I don't understand why performance would be affected. The rolling resistance may be different though. I would like to see a comparison in the physical size of each. Also a worn tyre will be slightly smaller giving a difference in the gearing that may cause the effect.

I replaced the stock rear tire a couple weeks ago with the pirelli diablo and haven't noticed any difference at all. However, i hardly ever ride in the wet so i'm no help there.

If so their opinion is utter shite and not worth listening to.

  reminds me of my favorite South Park episode..."Damn Mongolians always wreckin my shitty wall"

I have a incorrect size 140/60-13 on the rear of my gy6/ruckus.
and I too recommend it, works great in rain or dry, not sure about the diablos.

  I got a good laugh out of that.

Tires are tires, I'll likely go with whatever's cheapest. The PCX is a scooter, not a race bike -- the tires won't make a huge difference once they're warmed up.

I have 8k miles on my PCX and still have tread on the front and rear, so I might just go with the stock IRC tires again when the rear hits the wear mark (which is soon).

My City Grip rear has done over 3000 miles and looks like new.
Definitely a massively better wearing tyre than the IRC.
Looks like the City Grip costs less than the IRC in the US now (same in UK) so its a no brainer what one to go for.
