Here she is at work. Nice of the City of Fort Worth to put these large metal grates near motorcycle parking for my office. Hopefully Kryptonite cable and lock will do the trick. I arrive for work typically at 0530 (and don't work for City of Fort Worth). Note first mod done--Battery Tender cord protruding from under seat....

Very nice pictures. If I had my choice I'd take the scooter. I'm getting to old for that much motorcycle. Is that a Kawasaki Concourse? I've got one for sale right now. Ride safe my friend.

Kryptonite cable will draw back only amateurs. It is very easy to cut it with proper tools. Only thick chain can slow down professionals.

Result:
- steel cord protected with steel cylinders 10 mm / defeated
- steel cord 20 mm / defeated
- steel chain 11 mm / undefeated
- disc brake lock / undefeated
They used liquid nitrogen and blow torch to weaken the metal.
And all this matters only in case when thief don't lockpick the lock:

So to sum this up, locks of whatever type can only draw back amateurs and slow down professionals. Insurance is the best way to protect your investment, but if the insurance prices are as high as we have them in Slovakia (15% of new bike price per year), you have to count on locks

PS: battery switch is a good idea, I consider it by myself, at least it will stop a thief from driving away.

I seem to recall someone on this forum telling a story of woe in which the bike plastic was broken and the wires ripped out and HotWired. If a thief wants it bad enough they will find a way, even if it means destroying the bike. It doesn't make sense to me why they would want it that bad. We have ours cabled together and parked behind our cars during riding season. When we can't ride due to Winter, we park them in the basement. I haven't heard of scooters being stolen here but motorcycles are a different subject. There are motorcycle groups...or rather 'gangs' here that block traffic on the freeways and race. Police have been trying to crack down on them. I haven't seen them for awhile now , but they usually show up in the summer. I doubt that they would hesitate to steal a motorcycle if they wanted it. Luckily they stay in the bad part of town most of the time.
