Cat & Fiddle

Between Buxton & Macclesfield up here in the NW of England there's a windy road over the hills of the Peak District that's a popular and famous route for bikers. There's a nice pub at the top too (The Cat & Fiddle) which means on nice sunny Autumn days like today it's nice to jump on the scooter and whizz over the hills.. Only a couple of hours in total I headed for a little place called Castleton first, then back over to Buxton before heading over to Macclesfield then home again. A fab few hours in the sun. Thought I'd share a few pics with you lot....

Good idea to take some pics on your ride out. I went out today's too ,towards Scarborough, over the moors. Must take my camera if we get another dry sunny day before the frost arrives and the roads get salted.

Was just down the road from you today, Bakewell and Matlock, bit cold but blue sky :o
Nice photo of Winnats pass, went there a few weeks ago. Are the speed cameras around the Cat and Fiddle working yet, last time I was there they were turned off due to a design fault

Was thinking of doing Bakewell myself but headed of to Castleton for a bit first. I've been caught out the wrong side of the hills when the weather turns before and nice as it looked I'd left it a bit late in the day to go too far!

Not sure about the speed cameras, they were there but couldn't really tell if they were working or not, being a relative newbie I wasn't going to be testing them out on those corners! :)

Those are amazing pictures. In fact, maddiedog might even refer to them as awesome! ;) The first one in particular almost looks like a painting.

I lived in Cumbria at the edge of the Lake District for about a year and a half in my mid teens. The beauty of the country was wasted on my youth. Maybe one day will will return for a ride.

Thanks for sharing.

Great photos. I was supposed to do this route last March (on a bit of a mini Tour of Britain) but the blizzard conditions knocked the whole trip on the head.
Hopefully I will be able to see all this great scenery sometime next year!
