Mods on the cheap

I'm not sure if I want to sink too much money in a cheap bike but what are a few cheap ways one could get the best out of a standard bike? Rollers come to mind but are there anything else?

My ha'penny worth would just to say its a cheap fantastic bike. Just ride and enjoy it. Angst about other things

I realise that but it feels weird when your bicycle with mods cost more than the scooter and its mods. :D

Tofu, I'm still not sure whether you are talking about a bicycle. If so, you get what you pay for. It would never be
cost effective to put higher quality parts on a cheap bike (e.g., a Walmart bike)......better to ditch the cheap bike
and buy one of better quality. I'm 70 years old, and it is a lot of fun to outrun 20-something riders on their
conventional bikes. Here is my current primary ride:

It's an Easy Racers Titanium Javelin: Titanium frame, carbon forks, carbon seat, 30 speed indexed shifters, RNS fairing
(which increases speed by 15 %), etc. It's the fastest bike that I have owned in 34 years of cycling.

I wonder what adding a spacer to the torque spring would achieve.
This would count as a cheap mod.

Or perhaps reduce the weight of the nut that connects the handlebars to the seat.

I have a question that I think relates to this. What is the size of the handlebar if I wanted to purchase hand grips, and do they have to be specific to the Honda PCX?

Specifically, my wife is interested in ones like these Kuryakyn ISO Grips. http://www.leatherup.com/p/Motorcycle-G ... 75401.html

The bar width is 22mm or 7/8 of an inch.

Yeah, but try hauling 60km/h on a hybrid bike. Unless you have a FTP of 400W, it just ain't no fun. My bicycle isn't cheap (nor expensive) but it still totals more than the PCX. It's not to say I'm race material but I don't consider myself "slow". Btw, the only way I'd ride a triple crank is on my MTB or flatbar towing my son in the trailer.

Anyway, when I say cheap mods, I mean cheap mods like rollers which are cheap. Just looking for other mods which may not be go-fast stuff but other things that make riding the bike fun. I've put mirror extenders that I find useful and that was cheap that allows me to narrow but raise the mirrors higher and closer together (good for lane splitting).

if you are changing the grips, change the throttle tube to a smooth one as the stock honda one has ridges to suit the stock honda grips. it could also pay to get a quick throttle tube to reduce the amount you need to twist the throttle.

Do you have a link for these. I don't believe I have seen the aftermarket throttle tube.

That is cheap. Isn't 10g too light? I'm trying 12g sliders first and see how I go
