Got an amazing new seat, but I'm so far back in the pocket I can just reach the handlebars!
Is it fairly simple to swap out for a bar that's got a longer "pullback"?

That looks comfy. Looks like a RDL seat.

its not too hard to swap handlebars, only issues are cable lengths and the locator tabs on the back of the switchgear. its easy to grind off the tabs and then glue the switchgear to the bars. the stock cables have a bit of length to play with so shouldnt be much of an issue unless you get some harley style ape hanger bars o_O

Yes, it's a RUSSELL Day Long. There wasn't much choice on where the backrest could go!
Just tugging on the cables feels like there's really not much play, but they must be tied down under the faring.
Still winter so I've not gone far, but it should be a major upgrade seat wise (if I can reach the handlebars comfortably!).

thanks!

So a friend says that it would be better/easier to put in a set of risers like this http://tinyurl.com/l5ztzf2
Still don't know about cable length... I'm thinking of the 3.5" risers.

If it's not to personal, what did they charge to do that? Same range as a motorcycle seat? I'm assuming you had to send the seat to him. People that have their motorcycle seats done by him, swear by him.

It was like $750... which seems like a lot, but considering what people pay for vespas and other scooters I think I'm still getting a bargain.
can't tell if I love it until I get some miles (with the handlebar fix) but I think it's going to be a lot better.

Sounds reasonable to me. He builds quality stuff. I'm looking forward to your impressions of it once you get everything "dialed in."

BTW, I found that the original stock seat was difficult to lock down... with the new seat upholstery I had to remove the rubber "feet" to get the seat to lock down. Anyone else find those feet make a very tight fit?

Congrats on a RDL, depthman. It's one of those "I'm not sure if it's worth it" until you experience it...then you know & understand. :D

Yes -- I had to trim them to get the seat to lock for both the stock seat AND the aftermarket seat I have.
