Looking at buying a PCX150 as my first scoot

Hi everyone and thanks in advance (I am sure you get a bunch of these posts and I am aware that they are not that stimulating or useful, i did search in advance but could not find a clear answer). I was just wondering what everyone would think is a fair price for a new 2013 PCX. I am located in Maine and there is a dealer not too far away that has one in stock. His quote out the door is $3638.70 out the door (full MSRP + local tax). This seems reasonable, but the new model has the same MSRP I believe. What do you guys think?

Thanks again!!

The unsold 2013 should be discounted.
Tell him what you are prepared to pay, wave the cash under his nose so to speak.
You'll soon know if he wants to sell or is happy to have it taking up valuable floorspace.
If he won't negotiate just buy the new version.

$3600 OTD would be quite tempting. The 2015 isn't coming for a few months, so in his eyes the 2013 isn't an "old" model quite yet. Maybe $3600 is his discounted price, but it wouldn't hurt to haggle a little lower. Maybe ask around other dealers within 100 miles or so for their OTD quote. I was able to get my local down an additional $800 from his "final offer" by presenting other dealers prices in the area.

I recently purchased another 2013 PCX 150 and I can tell you that most dealers have not seen the newest version on the order list yet, so all they can do is go on their gut feeling that something will be coming, and continue as though it isn't. Therefore you probably won't get any better deal than the one you were offered. My out the door price was around $4,000. That included shipping and handling as well as dealer prep and taxes, so $3680 is a great price. They are obviously absorbing some of the cost because they believe they will be getting newer ones soon, though like I said they haven't seen them on the order list yet. I know this because I have discussed this with multiple dealers, some that didn't even have any PCX 150s in stock. All of them said that the new 2015 was not yet on their inventory order list yet, and they didn't expect to see it on the list until around July.

Might not be on their order lst, but its on the Honda USA website.....
Folks are going to need a discount on the old remainder stock or it just won't sell.

I'm just a bit south of you in MA. My OTD last July was also just under 4k. I think your dealer is being reasonable. You could TRY $3500, but at that point it is nickles and dimes. Do the deed and enjoy as much of our too-short season as you can.

I paid $2963.71 brand new out the door from Crofton Honda in Maryland, Virginia tax, tags, and title included. I paid for it and picked it up yesterday. You can do better. JMO

Thanks so much for the help guys! I may ask when he expects the new models in and just happen to mention that the new model has the same MSRP, and that if they cost the same I may as well wait for the new model to avoid a steep depreciation. That seems reasonable I think. And I know I noticed the new PCX 150 on ebay for 2699, a DAMN good deal, too bad they weren't located closer (I really would prefer a local dealer for support if I need it). I'm going to call a few more dealers in Maine this week as well as a few in Mass and NH.

There was a PCX 150 advertised in our area at $2699, but when we went to look at it, it was a dealer demo. I didn't even know they demo'd PCX 150s! My guess is that either something was wrong with it when it arrived, or maybe 1 dealer per region is allowed to demo it. To add some clarity to that, I had been inquiring about the new Burgman 200 also, and I found out that the only one in our region is making its way around the dealers as a demo, thus allowing a limited number of dealers to accept deposits on 2015s that have not been ordered by dealers yet. The dealers have heard what we have heard, but they haven't seen anything in writing yet. That puts them in a tough spot, since they can't lower the prices until they know for sure that they will be getting some, and yet they don't want to be stuck with a lot of inventory that has just depreciated. All you can do is try to negotiate. If you are lucky, you might just get a great deal.

I'm sorry, but to compare "out the door prices" between states is unrealistic.

So many variables in state to state sales tax rate, license plate fees and requirements, new title and or transfer costs, and others can have a swing of several hundreds of dollars in OTD prices.

But, where some of these low ball prices come from are dealers that charge $399 to $799 of freight and set up to their advertised price.

Caveat emptor!
