looking at a "used" forza vs. new

Hi everyone – so I’m selling my PCX and looking for a Forza. Found a used one nearby that was just traded in (yesterday). It was purchased new less than 2 months ago and has 623 miles. It is a non ABS with a Honda Windshield. The dealer just did the first service and it looks to be in almost new shape – was brought by a 90 year old who didn’t like it as much as his silver wing. The best price the dealer will give me is 5500 OTD. I can get a new one for roughly 500 more through Costco at another dealer far away; or 700 there. Would you go for the new one or take the used? Benefits of the used is it’s already broken, has the first service and has a windshield. Benefits of the new – is its new!

Offer him $500 less than that.
I guarantee he's still making more at that price than selling you a new one.

Get a new one with ABS.
A non-ABS used one should be 30% below the OTD price of a new one.

Thanks. Yeah, I did offer him 500 less for the used and he didn't budge. Said he can't go any below on it. Interestingly he was pushing the new. The quote for the new was actually pretty good compared to others in the area (6200 out the door). The Costco program new was about 6000 out the door, but it's 1 1/2 hours away.

"Costco auto program". I guess they negotiate with certain dealers for a "special" no haggle price. Works for cars too of course. It's not a bad price, but the closest deal participating isn't too close to me.

...........was that $6200/New quote with or without ABS?
Here in Canada i paid $5850 (cn$), which included the ABS, plus $300 setup/shipping

Sure - yes it's not a bad deal through Costco, but there doesn't seem to be many dealers participating. I'm going to have to travel about 100 miles to get there; should make for an interesting first ride home! So you all think I should pass on the 2 month old "used" / non ABS at $5500 OTD if they won't budge on the price?

I tried to think of any reason to buy the used bike. The only reason I could think of is (my opinion of course), if you are low on money and need the few bucks you save for accessories.

Thanks! Yeah, i would buy the used if it was 500 or even 400 less. I'll see if the Costco deal works out.

........the used Forza sounds like a good deal if, like the others say, the dealer would come down a bit more. If there are no ABS brakes, he should. But one thing you got to remember is how personable a bike is. By this i mean, when you are the first owner the bike has your brand. It is 100% yours. You feel a stronger attachment to it than if it had a previous owner. You know absolutely that it has not been mistreated. You can fuss with it and personalize it to your hearts content.

.......there's just something about that new car smell. Even with a bike. Then there's the matter of those break-in miles. Probably not so important today, but back in the day a tight new engine needed special attention. Now we have special alloys, water cooling, better tech in general.
