I was wondering on people's experiences with windscreens I just have the small black one that comes standard. Do taller windshields help? How difficult are they to install? Where is a reputable place to purchase and what is a good size. Thanks.

Depends on how tall you are. I'm 6'1" and put the medium size Givi screen on my PCX, which put the wind buffeting directly on my helmet instead of my chest as with the factory screen. I didn't spend much time riding at full speed so it wasn't a big deal. Now with the Forza, I spend almost all of my riding at highway speed, so I will not be putting a larger screen on the Forza (unless I find a deal on one that is too tempting to try out). You can install yourself in just a few minutes, Maddiedog has posted a nice how-to on this forum.

If you are talking about a PCX it is quite easy to change out the windshield. Which size you want will depend on what you do with your bike. If you take long rides in open road, get the tall Givi windshield. If you ride in the winter, get the tall Givi windshield. If you don't like a lot of wind directly hitting you, get the Givi tall windshield. However, if you are only using your scooter for local short trips, the Givi short windshield might be all you need. In short, it depends on what you will be using you scooter for.Finding a good place online to buy a windshield should be somewhat easy. Bikebandit.com.com, sporttour.com, Competition Accessories (compacc.com), are just a few that come to mind.

The windshields are different on the brand-new PCXes (with the LED headlights).

I highly recommend the Givi tall windshield, it is very effective. The other options just blast your face with wind unless you're short.

A PCX can't generate enough windblast to be a problem.

I put a short Givi windscreen on my PCX and hated it. I'm 5'7" and the wind hit my helmet like a tornado. The sound was deafening. I upgraded to a Givi tall screen, and love it. You get used to seeing through it quickly (if you're short like me), and there's no wind buffeting whatsoever... a much quieter ride. But, in the hot weather we're going into now, I'll probably swap back to the stock shield, because I like have the wind on me to cool me down. If I'm doing some high speed riding, I think any good shield will help a bit because it should be more aerodynamic to have the wind hit it and be deflected, versus hitting your chest and therefore slowing you down, but that's just an uneducated guess. Since they're so easy to swap on the PCX, and not crazy expensive, I can see having a selection of them to change out depending on needs.

I was also wondering if the tall givi is limiting the topspeed.
Drive a lot full throttle on highways.
My specs:
Pcx125 2011
Everything stock except malossi vario.
185 cm 93kg and firstpost on the forum
Topspeed at the moment is 120-125 with wind 100....
I feel sometimes like a parachute, hope the big givi is a nice upgrade.

No matter what windshield you put on a pcx, it will always be light. That is just the problem with most scooters. However, I have found that with the tall Givi screen I feel less stressed while riding. Also, it helps to smooth out some of the turbulence, though it will never make a light bike feel heavy. You will feel more comfortable riding with it. That is the point. I wish I could tell you that it would fix the problems little bikes have while running on the freeway with the bigger vehicles, but I dont think anything will do that.

Mel thanks for your input, but can you tell if the pcx is struggling more to reach topspeed with the tall givi?
I can imagine that my body is taking more wind then an aerodynamic windshield

When we had the smaller Givi screen on we had a harder time reaching top speed than with the tall screen. I can't explain why but my guess would be that the wind flows over the tall one, whereas it would hit the rider and cause the rider to act like a wall with the shorter one.

Today I saw a PCX with a very large screen, didn't even recognize it as a PCX at fist. Personaly I didn't like the look. The Petrol Blue coulour didn't help ...
BTW that's my personal opinion...

To reach tot speed I slide back on the bump en put my chin on the handle bar. Then again most of the time I don't need to top 50 mph ...

Regarding to the large screen, I might talk differently after winter, the PCX is my daily commuter summer and winter, so ... the fact that I'me rather short (168 cm or 5ft5) does help me a bit ... I kinda like this screen:
