Do tunnel bags damage the plastic?
Will they stay in place?

I'm thinking about buying the GIVI T496, experience anyone?

I have the Givi T455, it fits well, but is a bit snug. Here is what the T455 looks like:




I didn't use ANY of the mounting hardware that came with the T455 -- I just used the included strap, wrapped around where the handlebar pivots to mount it in place. It's wedged in there well enough that the one strap is more than sufficient.

I would greatly recommend the T496 though, it is more closely matched to the PCX. This video shows the T496 in place (and I would have bought the T496 if it was available when I got my T455: http://hondapcx.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=219

Note that you will have to remove any tunnel bag to access the gas tank. It seems like a minor nuisance, but when you go on a 600 mile ride and fill up 10 times because you don't know when the next gas station is, you will begin to HATE that bag. I still wouldn't leave on a long trip without it, the extra space is worth the hassle.

you should make a thread of just pics of maddie on the PCX. Call it the official forum mascot thread. Shes even the same colour as the bike.

I think I've posted most of the ones I have of her. People are always taking pictures or videos of us riding, but most of the time, they're just random cars that I'm passing on the road. I'm sure there's hundreds (if not thousands) of pictures of us riding out there -- I don't have even a fraction of them.

I had seen the video and made a note of the T496 already. Very nice video from Givi.
I know about the access to the gas tank. Now I have a Honda Lead 100 (the PCX is coming by the end of May) and the access is under the seat, like with almost every Honda scooter. So when I go camping I have to take all the luggage off and after filling up I have to strap it on again. Removing only a tunnel bag must be quite easy in comparison.
Btw I'm not going on a 600 mile ride but am planning a 4500 mile ride in July/August.

Awesome! How much time will that long of a ride take you?

And I demand pics + a ride report in the gallery subforum, especially since you're in another country. Different scenery is awesome.

The trip is gonna take about three weeks. I'll go camping and nothing, except the route, is planned so if it takes a couple of days extra it's no problem. I sure will post the story and the pictures, not sure where but I'll leave a link on this forum.

BTW I'm still wondering if the tunnel bag scratches the tunnel or not? You should be able to answer that after your trips!

Oh, sorry... The tunnel bag doesn't scratch it at all. It's all fabric, so not a bit of damage.

I've ordered a Givi T496 today. 59,50€ at my local Honda dealer so no shipping. But I had to pay 10€ extra for short delivery time. Anyone heard about that before?

What is the actual capacity of both the T496 and 455?. I think I've read the 496 is 22 liter and the 455 18, is that right?. I was kinda surprised because the 455 does look a bit bulkier and is actually more expensive. It's got some other interesting features, too, like the map pouch on the top.

The Givi site: http://www.giviusa.com/soft-luggages/Scooter-bags/T455 says the T455 is 15L.

I wouldn't put your dog IN the bag, I keep mine on top.

I thought the T496 was 18L. Don't know where I read it.

Aren't you afraid it falls off or jumps off your bike? Or is the dog strapped so it can't reach the ground when falling off?

She hasn't ever tried to jump off. Just in case, she's secured in place with breakaway clips. They're tied to the front loop on the tunnel bag. She has enough room to lay down, itch, shake herself, and sit or stand... But not enough slack on the line to turn around or get her paws off the bag.

Givi D323DT. I've also seen it listed as the Givi D322. I ordered it from http://www.compacc.com/, but they no longer carry them. A quick Google turned up this as the first result: http://www.pca-one.com/productDetail.asp?productID=3372.

I got a T496 last week. It's 12litre capacity. You can't open the glove box on the scooter and you also have to unclip it from the bike if you want to open the seat. You can secure it in place (not very secure really) with the supplied strap threaded behind the seats hinge. If you want to stop it slopping about this strap has to be pretty short - this puts a bit of pressure on the plastic clip buckles that attach to the bag. I have found that the left clip for some reason gets stuck and really doesn't want to unclip. The plastic won't last long at this rate. I wouldn't like to try to unclip it the dark, or with cold hands. I'd score it 3/10. It's a lot of money for what it is, and it isn't much
