Just purchased this uni knowing that I do not know how to get the bike apart in order to install it. Eventually I will get around to getting a service manual, but I was hoping to save a little cash since I dropped a lot on this purchase. Can anyone tell me how to get to the speedometer, as in, which screws to remove? Many thanks for the input and great forum. Here is the speedometer:

You'll have to disassemble the entire front fairing set. It's straightforward thanks to the how-to, but will probably take a six pack and some friends to get done in an evening.

The actual speedometer is a breeze to get in and out once the fairings are removed, and the wiring harness is self-explanatory to clip and unclip.

Thanks for the replies guys. This is not going to be fun. I did pick up a manual for $30 and the speedo should be here by Friday.

Anyone know where I can get a set of pry bars quick? Looks like it is going to be impossible to do the job without them.

edit: Nevermind, looks like the local Autozone carries a set. Will give it a go and report back once my awesome new speedo is in place

So here is what she looks like installed. Took a few hours to get everything disassembled and reassembled, but I like the results, especially the clock, tach and temp readout.

Were you able to figure out if the odometer could be changed to match the mileage of the existing one?

If it is possible, I have not figured out how to do it. I have English instructions but they are shoddy at best. You can set intervals for oil and belt changes, but I don't completely have that figured out yet. Another thing, it has a standby light that is not working. I am not sure it is supposed to work on US models. The yellow standby light can be seen in this thread:

Also, I am monitoring ambient temperature and not coolant temperature. Monitoring coolant temp requires cutting the coolant lines and inserting a probe - something a little more involved than I cared to get in to. Perhaps I will do it down the road when I decide to install a big bore kit.

The Standby Light could be for oversea PCXs that shut down when stopped.

That is what the Kitaco rep told me. I didn't know what he was talking about. So the non-US bikes stall when you come to a stop?? What is the advantage of that?

I haven't installed my yet as I still need to pick it up in the US when I am there in a few weeks. I had it delivered there because I purchased with the US based credit card. I suspect it will work for me because my Thai PCX has the 'Idling/Stop' feature. I suspect that because of US codes, that feature is not allowed.
