Spark plug

I am getting ready to change the spark plug on my pcx150 for the first time. The original plug, that I removed, did not have the washer on it. The owners manual says: to install new plug, with washer. So .... was the factory right, or is the owners manual right? (Same plug - NGK 3901 cpr7ea-9)

Hi and welcome to the forum(s) :) Your question(s) had me looking at both owners manual and the shop service manual. You are correct, the owners manual does say to install with washer on. The shop manual makes no mention of a washer at all.
I'm pretty sure the washer stays on. Why not wait for another response or two? We have some very smart techs and mechanics on board ;)

The spark plug will have a washer on it. It doesn't come off. Remove the old plug. Check the new one is the correct type and there is a gap in the electrode on the end. That should be 0.8 - 0.9 mm. Install the new plug and torque it to 16nm. This is basically tight enough to crush the washer. Refit the coil lead to the top of the spark plug, job done.

It's in Vietnamese or something but you get the idea.

Thanks to all! Just could not understand why the one I removed did not have the washer. I have gapped the plug, put it in, and should be "good to go" Thanks again!
