whilst in Singapore as well as getting a cheap rack for my PCX and seeing several PCX's riding around, I saw a few of these Adiva AD200's Scooters with a roof. See http://www.bikez.com/motorcycles/adiva_ad_200_2011.php. They looked nice up close and only 200cc so not a monster. Does not seem to be available in Oz yet.

Very interesting. I thought that BMW had something like that, but perhaps it never went into production? I wonder how well the roof works for keeping the operator dry, and if it affects the gas mileage much? Some protection certainly could be nice in places with lots of precipitation. I definitely prefer the look of my PCX however.

Its butt ugly. BMW had it out here years ago but it did not sell that well and they just look wierd.

You guys are thinking of the BMW C1. I really like the looks of them, here's a picture of one:

Yeah the C1...a friend had one in red but I never been a fan of em.

Ha! But they did have some advantages. They had a restraint system and a roll cage and were intended to be used without a helmet. Sort of an odd hybrid of a car and a scooter, and you'd have the fun of riding on two wheels without all the hassles of getting your gear on. I think it would be fun to try one, but I'm not surprised that it wasn't successful.

Protection for the rider, but what about the poor pillion...?

^ That's the only reason I could never buy a C1, even if I could find one in the USA. I wish a concept like this had made it to the market (warning: bad photoshop from a French website, not an actual BMW concept):

If you're going to have a roof, you may as well fill in the sides and you'll want a comfy feet forward seating position for yourself and passenger then you'll need pop-out wheels so you don't have to put your feet down.
Not a photoshop concept, this recipe has been getting built in Switzerland for years (decades) now.

Wow, I think I want the Monotracer if the price and reliability are ever reasonable. Very cool.

Here are a couple of snaps of the AD200 I saw in Singapore. I think it looks better for real than in the photo. Anyway good for Singapore which seems to rain every day. And there seems to be a AD250 version too. Roof can be folded back into rear top box which is why that is so big.

Yep, around £50,000 and totally eye watering tyre bills too no doubt.

If you can afford 50k for one I guess tyre costs wouldn't be a problem.

Good find with those pics of the pcx with a roof. Should be perfect for British weather :-)
