warning! never do this;

Long steep hill was in my ride today and I road down with no issue and made the hair pin at the bottom in style. Shay Whitey and I were so proud of ourselves we wanted to do it again but this time not allow the CVI to be engaged, kinda like pulling the clutch and coasting down. Well I thought the speedometer would max and what you don't realize is without that belt engaged you are in for a whole new experience in braking Brakes don't work well at all... it's like you turn off the key in your car and step on the brake... SURPRIZE BOOM!

Never fear somehow by the grace of God Shay kept the sunny side up but we were dancing with the devil and toying with fate by going over with the high side today brother! WHAT A RUSH!!!!!!! must change my shorts before the wife gets home WOOT!

Oops... Thank goodness that you didn't crash! I have never tried something like that and now, reading your message, will not!

Glad you're OK, but I'm confused . . . how did you 'disengage' the belt?

The standard PCX clutch disengages at 9mph so to disengage the clutch all you have to do is shut the throttle get the speed down bwlow 9mph and let the brakes off.
Or just push off by foot with the engine off.
Given a big enough hill the PCX is faster with the engine off.

Uh oh...homie youz almost went bump piddie bump bump. Scary lesson. Happy to know that you and your following (Jack/Monk) are all okay When I see a downhill coming ahead, I tell myself to keep a little throttle on while going down it. Sounds odd because we're going to sail our way down without adding throttle, so why do it? Cause things can get Yikes! nasty if we don't.

I think it was maddiedog (Dave) who answered this from his own downhill scary experience once.
Wish I could locate that on the forum, but I wouldn't know where to begin looking.

So... to dumb it down further:
It'll be really really bad if we slow down(with the brakes) TOO much, and then let the brakes go? Or is it a bit more complicated than that?

Because it begs the question of what you should be doing at a stop light/sign down a really big hill.

Safe to say don't play with this characteristic of a CVI on a downgrade, it could get you injured again.
