last 2 days i've noticed quite a loud annoying rattling sound when the throttle is pulled,
does anyone know what could be causing this?
I can hear it through my Helmet with the Visor closed and with wind noise and over the Exhaust,
so it must be pretty loud....
I cant really tell where it's coming from though,
sounded like the front but again i'm not sure.
why would this happen all of a sudden?
and again... if anyone knows what this could be as I obviously notice it now every time I go out,
and it is really annoying....
the faster I go (more/longer the throttle is pulled) the more the sound dies down,
if I let go of the throttle, then it stops, then when I start to pull again it rattles...
I guess it's around a certain speed that I notice it more.
only thing i've really done is remove the Screen to clean it...
but i'm sure I tightened everything up properly,
could the screws some how of come loose at all?
it had the first service but not by me, and it was a late first service at around 1530 miles,
it hasn't been taken to a garage yet and i'm on about 5200 miles,
I replaced the Engine Oil and Brake Oil myself at 5000 miles, replaced the Spark Plug and Air Box Filter myself around the same time,
obviously needs a valve check but I was told if the Bike sounds like its running fine then they should be fine
(no problems with the Exhaust and so on)
do you think I should take it in to get those checked now or wait or....?
but again, this rattling only started about 2 days ago, that I really noticed anyway,
sounds like it's coming from the front but not 100%,
I did remove the Screen so i'm not sure if that could of done anything...
but I did that about 2 weeks ago..
any help would be appreciated :-)

Helmet off, parking parking lot away from all traffic, ride next a building or high curb, do your thing with the throttle. Listen . Could it be the rollers from within the CVT?
Sometimes get a flat spot that makes a noise but causes no driveability issues.

Tried doing it up Tesco Carpark but couldnt really tell,
just got back from a ride and I can hear it between 20-40mph,
but again it does sound more to the front,
I did put the Honda badge on the front but it doesnt seem to be touching anything else,
if other people cant hear it then I dont really mind,
obviously it isnt right and only started 2 days ago so not sure what it could be,
i'll double check the screws of the Screen again...
and I can take the badge off just to check as I put that on a few days ago,
cant think of anything else that would just happen all of a sudden....
but still, Rollers are more to the back/side, this does seem near the front.

Put the bike on the main stand and run the engine up to speed

Put it on the main stand earlier...
sounded like it was the middle, and i've had a problem with the fuel cover latch since i've had the Bike,
when pressing the button, the cap wouldnt flick up..
and I have to push the catch bit out so that when I close the cap, it latches on...
but I put loads of sponge behind/around it earlier and used 3M Dual Lock to keep the cap down properly and that bit seems to of stopped rattling,
BUT
the main bit if the top plastic fairing I think, between the bar and the speedo etc...
I only have to press my hand on that bit of plastic and it 'squeeks'
but theres no way to sort it, as theres nothing to tighten etc,
theres a similar sound on the left side fairing as well near the PCX badge but that doesnt make a noise when riding I dont think...
im pretty sure the noise im now hearing is that plastic though,
I did think from the start that it was 'in front of me', thats why I thought it was maybe the Screen being taken off,
but again, not totally 100% sure, theres nothing else I can do to check it though,
but it is REALLY annoying, especially as its only between 20-40mph I can hear it,
and stops when the throttle is let go...
if other people cant hear it then i'll be fine with it, i'll put up with it,
but it's not really nice if im riding and people walking or in cars can only hear a loud rattle noise,
dont want people thinking im riding around on some broken crap Bike,
it's a Honda, I wouldnt of thought it would have this problem, especially as its now come all of a sudden.

Is the rubber screen seal fitted correctly?

I think so, put it back like it was, when the Bike was running I tried to move the whole Screen but it was solid, no movement at all.

Did this happen immediately after re fitting the screen?

Some ideas, assuming you can't find a panel that is obviously loose that you can manually repair...
Dry lubricant spray on the affected area. Sometimes this will quiet squeaky plastic parts rubbing together slightly.
Velcro dots or tape, the soft half not the rougher hook half. You can generally buy thin velcro with adhesive on one side at a craft store. Throw away the rougher portion and use the softer portion as a cushion between two hard panels. Alternately, they make felt that is adhesive on one side that can also be used, or foam tape that is set up the same.
A few ideas if you can isolate the source but cannot tighten the panels:
Have similar problem on my new PCX-150 2014, which I've bought 2 weeks ago on Phuket. At the moment it has 700km on odometer.
When I'm riding alone, everthing seems to be fine, I can't hear that rattling sounds, or maybe they aren't so strong (hard) so that I could hear them.
But when I'm riding with a passenger they become annoying. It comes when I brake at traffic lights and the throttle is pulled. Especially when I'm riding down the hill, without throttle, just with the help of brakes. It comes from the bottom, but it hard to find out where exactly it is. (front, back, middle)
I contacted to Honda dealer where I bought a bike, mechanic confirmed that he hear that sound. Than he disassembled the part of the bike where the V-Belt is and said that cause of the problem
is that the V-Belt is shaking when throttle pulled and it makes that sound. At least I figured it out so =) Cause their English is poor)) They said that i must wait about a week for new V-Belt and then they will change it.
On my question -"why did this happen, how can it be with new bike?" I haven't heard a clear answer, because Thai English is something from another planet))
So that is why I appeal to you guys, maybe somebody had same issue, and can properly explain what is the reason for that.
Thanks.

Hey fandom,
this is on my new 2014 Bike....
when going down a hill, the rattle isn't there, but as soon as the throttle is turned even slightly, there's the loud rattle,
really annoying, I just had to come in from a ride as it was really annoying me,
obviously once I hear it, I always hear it... and the fact it's louder than the exhaust, again, annoying!
Did you get a new Belt for yours? and did it fix your issue?

Was riding earlier and took the Camera off my Helmet and held it around the Bike
have to find it in with my 3 footage files of today so will upload it on YouTube if it actually picks the noise up,
only way I can describe it is like.. when the throttle is pulled, again, even a tiny bit, it's like there is a washer rattling,
like a screw loose with a washer so theres the rattle noise,
obviously not saying it is that, but that's what it sounds like, best way to describe it,
but i'm not sure where exactly it's coming from, and it doesn't do it when on the stand I don't think.

at 7:22 when I pull the throttle to go.. you can hear the rattle, cant hear it that much on this due to wind etc again as usual,
but that rattle I can hear myself through the Helmet and over the engine/exhaust, really annoying sound.

I noticed on my pcx that there is a loose washer behind the pin on the centre stand rod. I also hear a slight rattle when riding roughly 60kmph. When I close the throttle the rattling sound is gone. I think the rattling noise is comming from that washer. It does not bother me however it is audible. Have a look at that washer.

Mine is really loud, again, especially over the engine and exhaust and through the helmet and wind,
even the slightest turn of the throttle and it's there,
the rattle sound itself doesn't seem to change as in... quiet and loud,
it's a constant 'volume' (as I can describe it)
i'll check that washer tomorrow though, but yeah, it does sound like something is loose...
as when it's on the main stand.. and I rev it, I cant hear the rattle..
it's only when i'm riding, so when the stand it up...
so it might be.

Sometimes fixes are Just that Simple. Really. I sure hope that washer is the reason jojo!
Biting my tongue waiting to sing out......"Hallelujah!"

lol you and me both!! it does sound like its from that side though,
but yeah, really hoping it is...
only thing is.. I cant actually go out on the Bike until Tuesday now,
hopefully I find something loose in that area and tighten it, and will see on Tuesday!

That washer is really loose actually, how can I fix this...... so that it doesn't rattle, so I can actually see if that is the problem.
