What an adventure... This bike really is something else!
Coming from the likes of 70cc kitted 50's the 125 has a lot of power compared to other 125 scooters I have ridden.

The bike still reaches 65mph and in no time at all, but what I found surprising is how it will cruise at 60mph all day long, and even a slight incline dosent move the speedometer needle!

After 500 miles my engine seems to be bedding in very well and is very smooth.

No fluids lost anywhere either which is great!

600 mile service is this Thursday and after that I'm going to consider buying a new exhaust for the pcx, the current one feels abit heavy and if I'm being honest abit restrictive! Which I assume part of where honda can claim it's mpg figures

Personally I feel the 125esp engine has been heavily restricted to allow honda to achieve it's mpg figures? Just seems it has more than what it's putting out...

Dealer said the 600 mile service should cost around 100 quid.

The power and speed seems fine and the mileage is great so out of curiosity why would you want to change anything on the scooter, such as the exhaust? Also, would it affect the warranty and/or insurance?

I mist admit, for sounds reasons alone an exhaust is a worthwhile purchase.

Any changes to the bike such as major colour change to a large proportion of the bike, or any performance mods or changes affecting safety must be reported to the insurers otherwise if you have an accident or it's stolen and recovered, the insurance probably will not payout if they spot such changes. Peoples choice whether they make changes and report them, but you take a chance at having no insurance when you need it.

Performance mods seem to be for those that need an extra couple of mph top speed or for a hobby, but for me who's bike never really goes above 40, I'll leave it be

I suppose your both right, all I was trying to get across is I have a massive history with engines big and small, and it seems honda have really toned this one down, personally if honda wanted to I think they could have easily had this engine run the full learner legal 15hp, with a 65mph cruise speed and 75 top out of the box! Albeit at the cost of mpg...

To me the engine was fairly under tuned by honda to gain it's massive mpg which is obviously the selling point of this scooter, I also believe it was under geared.

Of course, you are absolutely right. They have balanced off power for economy and IMO they were right to do so. The PCX is aimed at the local commuter or urban/leisure user and the power and speed is more than enough. One could theoretically adjust it back the other way but I personally would never go this route. I will leave it alone and either upgrade to a 150, 300 or even 600 scooter down the line.

Still, I completely understand the need for speed as it does not take long to get used to it and it really starts to appear slower. Hence why a lot of bikers move up the range...
125 > 300 > 500 > 750 > Litre bikes.

Rapid acceleration is a cyclist killer, according to the average age of a PCX owner poll in this forum... we don't have the reflexes of youth on our side LOL.

i do completely agree with you, i live in wales, 60mph country roads etc, so i guess ill notice more, i do love the economy tho.. like really love it
