Best way to get a pcx into the bed of a pickup truck?

I have 2 ramps for the truck. If i get a flat tire or the bike dies, is the pickup truck a good option? Or should i call a motorcycle tow service? Any idea what a tow costs? I got a notice from my insurance that they will tow but that might means hours waiting for them to respond.

As long as you're careful, it should be pretty easy to get a cycle as small and light as the PCX into a truck.

Sometimes it's useful to back the truck up to a small hill so that the tailgate is now more even with the ground, and the ramp is now parallel to the ground. Walk the scoot across carefully.

Ideally, you'd have 3 people. Two at the front to carefully steer and keep the front wheel from going over the ramp. One at the back to push.

You don't HAVE to have them, but they make special straps to haul motorcycles, to hold the bars. Check out Amazon. Basically what you want in an ideal world are two straps called "soft loops" and then a ratchet strap on each side in the front down to the bed.

Search around on Google Images, tons of pics of how people transport cycles.

Another idea if you want to be able to handle a flat on the road:

 it's not going to stall, and you're not going to get a flat tire. You bought a Honda not a Harley. Chances much greater you will tumble before any of that.

But if you want to rig up for your truck here is old post of mine that will give you some more ideas http://www.hondapcx.org/viewtopic.php?f ... s&start=20

I don't know who this person is, nor do I have any connection to the trailer manufacturer. I just thought it was a pretty cool way to load a bike.

Haha Ah homie, any vehicle can get a flat. Honda no different. Any rolling rubber kissing the ground can get nailed! Oh no! Honda Stalling, not so much. Agree. ;)

Mark, Wow! Tilt bed with a grabbing fixed yet moving powered wheel chock!
Nice, Convenient Ezy-Trailer.

But...Kendon (caddy of open trailers, imo) rise to the occasion. They fold up and out of the way taking up little room. So well made! My dream trailer. Expensive, but just look at what I mean :) http://www.kendonusa.com/single_ride_up_trailer.html

It remember helping the guy load my Kawasaki Concours into his truck years ago when I sold it. I'll take a PCX loading job any day over that. (600 lbs).

For yak and other peeps who are thinking about or wanting to get their bike in bed...their Truck bed :D
The link homie mentioned above is his thread and a good one. I just felt the need to add a YouTube I just viewed from J&P Cycles. Their rep did a great demo of loading and securing a bike into a truck bed "Properly & Safely." You can always enhance your scoot with more straps, a chock etc, if you feel more comfortable about it. Nothing is written in gold as to how much is too much. You'll know If you're going overboard  It's Your bike, remember. His set up looks good to me. He even remembered to put fuzzy furry Velcro soft wraps around his tie straps in areas where the strap could mar/rub his bike. Look for them as you watch. I don't think(?) he mentions them. I own a few of them, they're cheap and they do the trick. Cycle transporters use them all the time. Shoot! I'd Hate to see a Harley Riders face if his bike arrived scratched up! :o Nuff said
It's showtime 8)

Many years ago...approximately 42...One of my many motorcycles quit while i was on the road. I called a Honda repair shop and asked them if they could pick up the bike and take it to their shop. They arrived in an extended bed pickup truck, loaded the bike into the bed by way of a ramp and the 2 husky guys, and off to the shop we went. So, in short, using pickup trucks to haul bikes has been a time honored tradition in the motorcycle repair business. You should have no trouble putting a pcx in the bed of one.

Oops, and the soft tie "covers." Those furry wraps that Velcro over your tie straps. These keep your ties from scratching your Bike (Should they Meet ;) )
