Supposed to be 60 F here tomorrow and near that on Sunday - was 45 F here today. Snow gone a few days ago. In the US when something happens in the New York area - you would think it is the entire country. The national news networks are the worst about reporting it like that.

Apparently shovelling snow is nearly as dangerous as riding a scooter.

It's kind of a drag to live where you can't scoot all year round. Some of the PCXers on this site really have it made. But, not sure if their summers feel like living in hell.

Well, even here in Georgia it is starting to feel like we will be putting the bikes away for the winter, and yet it is close to 50 outside right now. The winds and rain are what makes it hard to ride here. We can bundle up for the temps otherwise.

My Mom lives near Lake Superior and gets the lake effect. I live near Lake St. Clair and don't get the lake effect. My lake is the smallest Great Lake.

Lake effect is cold air moving over relative warm water, not a lake but same with Atlantic/North sea.

I moved from the Buffalo, NY area to Thailand 2½ years ago. The city is about 52 sq. miles (135 sq. kms) in size. The storm only covered about 10 sq. miles (26 sq. kms). My children are still there and were just a little north of the main part of the snow, but they have friends, family and co-workers who got hammered by it. The weight of the snow is caving roofs in. There have been 13 deaths so far, most related to heart attacks while shoveling.

If that was the case it would be called "Sea Effect" It does happen on a great lake the size like Lake Superior.

Cut and paste the below link in your browser to see the Great Lakes and explanation.

Any of you guys ever catch fish though a hole in the ice? Fun times!

o_O Incredible photo's kram! I bet you're glad you weren't there! God Bless those that live there. Hard times for sure! Dying due to shoveling. How awful is that?!

I pray we miss a lot of snow on the Island this winter. I shoveled too much the last two. I was sooo over it by February. I think cleaning the snow off my truck is the biggest PITA of all! What a mess once it starts melting. So Dirty too.
And, Scooting will seem so far away :(
