Welcome to the forums!

I bought mine used in May of 2011, for just under $4000 USD in Georgia, USA.

Those are high prices.

What do you guys think about this? 2011 PCX for 2700 (with tank) only 1200 miles.

It's an almost new PCX with some very useful accessories, what more is there to know?
It should still be under manufacturer warranty.
If you want it enough, just get it.
Unless of course it's you selling it and you're on here for some free advertising

Thanks. I am thinking if I should go for it.
I am currently riding the Metropolitan 50cc and did appreciate its slow speed in terms of safety, but that speed also limits the distance though.

I am debating.
It does look like a good deal on the price and I would love to ride it from Illinois back to Los Angeles. :)

What you talking about? I consider slow 50cc bikes a danger rather than safer! They have no power to get out of trouble

I think there are situations when being able to get out of trouble is beneficial, but at the same time the faster speed is more likely to cause the trouble in the first place.

I think when we are going faster, we will have more injuries falling down than if we were going at a slower speed.
The reaction time to respond to danger or unexpected changed is also much shorter at higher speeds. So a dog, a deer, or road obstacle are harder to avoid and will cause more harm if one falls down or collides at a faster speed.

I see your point of extra dangers of riding slower too (i.e. more cars pass you by, increasing the likelihood of a collision from behind).

I had a 650 motorcycle some years ago and then rode a bicycle for a while, so even though I am not looking back into motorcycling, I have gladly upgraded from the bike to a 50cc scooter. I have spent days climbing on hill on my longer bicycle rides, and those nightmares are now in the past with the 50 cc. :)

I was also debating of whether the Elite 110 is more suitable for me, but I want a white colored scooter (for better visibility).

Thoughts are welcome.

Maddiedog, thanks for the response.
You seem to be a devoted PCX rider.
Sounds like you paid a full price. It must have been in a good condition?

I think perhaps you should have a take time to check your local area to see what else is available.
Maybe there's a Sym or Kymco dealer near you, they should have something to suit if you're looking for low prices.
Kymco have the Agility 125 which has similar performance to a PCX and is listed at $1800 new.

I paid full price -- got it new from the dealer.

I have seen PCXes in new condition go for less than that one in IL; I'd keep looking.

Depending on your road conditions, a 125cc will be a lot safer than a 50cc. I used to own a Metropolitan, it was much less stable than the PCX at speed. You might be able to dodge quicker on the Met, but you have less control.

Also, you should get a PCX, not an Elite 110. The PCX gets better gas mileage. I actually get better gas mileage on my PCX than my father-in-law gets on his Metropolitan...

GN2, thank you for suggestion, somehow I set my sight on a honda scooter. :)

Maddiedog, wow, you have seen new ones for less that 2700? That would motivate me to look further. Though the posted on includes a pretty quality-looking trunk. (Givi?) Also I have a friend in Chicago who I would like to visit before heading back to LA.
Met has many strong points about it: the prices of maintenance are laughable. It's super light so I can always lay to the side or roll up the curb. The small size doesn't get attention when locked at the bike rack. I've also taken it to the elevator few times. I suspect it's a little better off-road than the pcx given the short wheel base, but I might be wrong. Is Metro easier to ride over bumps when on a dirt road?

I've put 11000 miles on the stock rear IRC tire and I bought a new Pirelli for 25$ off amazon and it seems twice as durable as the IRC. The air filters are 5$ from the lawn more. It holds .6 quart of engine oil. The belt is 15$.. it can be rebuilt on the desk and taken to the room in parts very easily.

It's just due to the slow speed, I can't get out very far on it from Los Angeles on the weekend. It takes me all day long to ride from Palm Springs to LA, whereas I could do it in 2 hours or less on the 10 freeway.

Consider this video of me riding at 10 mph riding up to the Summit in Yosemite. It's 10 mph at wide open throttle. These are the times when I wished for bigger displacement and more power.

I've seen a "new" one with 200 miles go for $2200 here in GA. I've heard as low as $1700.

The Met won't be better offroad, the wheelbase is short, and the wheels are tiny! It's totally squirrely on gravel compared to the PCX. The PCX is way huge for a 125cc though, you definitely can't fit it on a bike rack or in an elevator.

Maintenance intervals on the PCX here: http://hondapcx.org/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=323. Not sure how that compares to the Met, but the PCX is really good on maintenance, especially if you're willing to either ignore or extend the valve adjustment requirement, or do it yourself. It is definitely easier to work on the Met than the PCX, I had to almost completely rebuild the Met I had, and I wouldn't ever want to have to do that on a PCX. The engine's much larger and more tucked behind more fairings.

You can't really take a PCX on the freeway unless you want to be passed a whole lot... Then again, you're probably already used to being passed! I know I am, even 125cc isn't enough sometimes.

It's significantly smaller than some of the 125 GT scooters available in Europe such as the S-Wing, X10, Downtown, Burgman etc.

In which case the PCX is probably the best of a very limited set of options.
Unless you want a big scooter in which case a Silverwing is the one to have.

Thanks for your replies, GN2 and maddiedog. Scooter, wow, sounds like it's more expensive in UK. I am really debating between the elite and the pcx. elite is so much more maneuverable.

Don't know where you get that idea from, have you ridden both?

Well, the Elite has smaller tires, weighs 30lbs less, and has a 2" smaller wheelbase... It makes sense that it would be more maneuverable.

Can you even buy Elite 110s anymore? I guess you can always find used. :)
