NM4

At the show yesterday in town. Don't understand Honda - the NM4 had more space than anything, special lighting and dry ice effects going off every 10 minutes or so. For me mechanically I give it an 8.5-9 and style wise a 2! And I read the actual measurement of the side cases at the back internally is only 7 litres each side. The rep put 3 small size bottles of water in and couldn't get a 4th in. Looks like they would be way bigger on the outside but wander if they use the rest of the space for something like battery etc.

That design is just shite.
The UK version "Vultus" doesn't have side cases, so there's no ancillaries in there.

It's awful. All I can figure is it is a off-the-wall marketing test. I don't think the world is ready yet. It may have been good in the movie iRobot or Blade Runner?

We shouldn't waste a second worrying about that as many say the same about our scoots. A long time ago I stopped giving a flying you know what people think - but I'm still not getting an NM4 -

I like to see stuff like this because it means Honda is healthy enough that they can go do oddball things like this . It certainly means they have enough R&D money to keep the scooter thing going…

Honda NM4 vs Yamaha TMAX

Interesting they [readers] gave the NM4 scooter of the year - mainly for riding comfort. It seems like folks love it or hate it. Good review if nothing else.

"What makes a scooter a scooter? Is it the step-through frame? The completely hidden engine? The underseat storage? The clutch-free operation? We have here two radically different visions of scooters in the form of the Honda NM4 and the Yamaha TMAX, representing the different design intents of maxi-scooterdom. The NM4 looks like a futuristic scooter but rides like a cruiser. In fact, Honda lists the NM4 in the cruiser category on its website. The TMAX strives to be the sportbike of scooters with its aggressive styling and performance. What the pair do share is a price tag separated by just $509, with the NM4 costing $10,999 to the TMAX’s $10,490."

I hear all that's said but in my book when style is 1st priority and practicality a very distant 2nd, it's just a fishing trip on Hondas part. I understand they have sold 2 in all of Canada and about 10 in US. Although that's not from Honda themselves it was an authorised dealer that told me. There were a few more than that in the distribution network but most I am told were sent back.

It's not for me but they sold the one they had at my dealer.

I looked a new 2013 Yamaha Super Tenere today that I test rode months ago because they are dumping a lot of 2013s they have at a huge discount. They made some improvements (clutch noise) and added cruise control in 2014 but the 2013s are really low. o_O I would have to sell a bike to pick one up and stay married.
